Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
Robert,Its really no different than just making your piece with metal.
get your sizes etc. and bend, curve, trim till you get the shape you want. that way your not wasting metal. Mark |
Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
Thanks Mark. I'm going to pick some up today and see what I can do with it.

some of you may be wondering why this might be taking so long.
Well I'm also working on these. The 55 needed: full floor pan, trunk pan, rockers, and quarters. |

The 55's metal work is pretty close to being done.
The other project is a 67 I'm doing for another customer. It needed: partial floor, rockers, cab corners, cab supports, drip rail and smoothed out and filled firewall and smoothed cab seam. Mark |
Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
That's a lot of very nice metal work.

Reaper
Strong work, as always.. what are your steps you go through to weld a roof seam. How to keep the weld from being contaminated from all the gunk in the seam. I hope you do a thread on the 67 in the alternative tinkering section. love to follow your work and learn thanks. Keep on keepin on nutz |
Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
Awesome work and great ideas Mark!!
Are you going to do a buildthread on the ‘55 also, when it’s ready? I’d like to see that. Maybe change your name in MMM....Metal Master Mark :metal::lol: |
Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
Nutcase, normally with any seam like this I try and media blast first if possible.
Then I use a thin cutoff wheel and lightly run it down the length of seam to remove any other pieces of paint etc. Then start doing tacks every 2 inch or so and repeat. Mark |
Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D
Kees, I'm not sure if I'm going to do threads on both of these or not.
If there is enough interest I may consider. Thanks again for the compliments. Mark |

Update:
I was able to get a little work done tonight. I installed the center strip on the lid of the console. And also the detail strips for the sides. And finally set the switch dash into the console to complete the look. Mark |
