Finished the park/ turn lamp assemblies. The NOS lens's made the biggest difference in them.

Took pics with the original lamps that were removed from the donar hood for comparison. Its amazing how dark the amber lens will turn over 50 years.

Got a little bit of time in on the truck in between garden and yard duties.

Got the driver side fender extension taken off. The antennae mounted on the new one and the extension installed.

Also go the "new" spotlight installed. I like this design much better personally. Next job will be the wiper nozzles and lines and then the hood.

The CH model lights have really grown on me. I really like the change. Its a smaller light so maybe that's why I like it better.

Not a lot done this weekend. Climbed and removed a 100ft sycamore this Saturday that was leaning over a buddies house and spent Sunday with the wife.

Did get a few minutes to flip the hood and get the liner done. I think it will take one more coat in the large flat areas to even out the coat 100%. Will try to fit the lights, bezels and hood seals/ foam tonight if I get off on time.

Pics of the hood in various stages of work and 1 from work Saturday.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Thanks TJ. Hood is coming along, will be completed this week. Still waiting on harness from American Autowire, should see it soon though.

Tree was fun. We've been trying to get to it for a few months. I used to be a lead climber for a hazardous removal company. We basically did all the trees no one else wanted to touch. This monster was 25' off the house, double top and right at 100' tall. Spent around 3.5 hrs climbing and roping it out, but we got it down with no issues.

No rush. I have a stash waiting to go to you also. Every time I box something I add something so it gets unboxed and put into a larger one.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Will probably have to be oil soaked I imagine to keep it from rusting out again.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Rained all last night and been raining all day, so won't get much done tonight. Will try and get the AC breather disassembled and see if I can get the batting replaced.

And just off the phone with American Autowire......my harness has finally hit the production line and should be done in the next day or so.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

I have several dry areas to work in, problem is they are 100 yards apart. And no electricity run to either one at the moment.

I talked with my buddy who is an electrician yesterday though about getting me some juice to the big barn. Should be in the works in the next week or two.

We've been pretty dry down here the last few weeks and I'm not complaining about the rain. My garden and fruit trees and happy to see it as am I. Saves me a lot of time watering.

Eric15chevys 06-03-2015 03:58 PM

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Definitely not complaining about the rain. My yard and garden sure needed it. Rust removal did seem kinda counter productive yesterday though.

1963c-10 06-03-2015 04:09 PM

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Same here Eric. I keep up with my garden and flower beds pretty good, but I don't do any watering on the lawn itself. Its amazing how fast it will go from brown to green.

I've also had the counter productive days of doing body work when there is a lot of moisture in the air. Have seen steel flash rust nearly as fast as you can get it down to bare steel.

Hows the roof going?

Got the hood sponges & park lamps in Friday. Took Saturday off to go surf fish at Holden Beach and then with Erics help I got the hood on Sunday. Took around 30 min to get it all adjusted right but I can call the hood done.....minus the wiring harness which should be in this week.

Next step is to get the brake lines knocked out and bleed the clutch / brake system. Also need to finish the connection on the exhaust at the x pipe.

looking good man, how are things over there in Fayette-nam? I sure miss those drop zones in Bragg!

Thanks a bunch for the kind words.

Not much changes in Fayetteville except for the roads getting bigger and the constant development & construction that seems to never end or get finished.

And the hood sponges going in. The two short skinny ones go up under the front of the hood, the two thick short ones go up under the back part of the hood and the two long ones go under the center supports.

Couple more pics.

I started with the two forward seals. Then the two back seals, then the two center ones go in last.

I used a 1 1/2" plastic putty knife as you'll find the seals are 3 times larger than the spaces they go into. I placed the seals in the location where they go, used the putty knife to roll the edge under the steel then used the putty knife on the bottom of the seal to start working them in. Took around 15min per seal and I kept having to go from working the top of the seal to working the bottom in.

Very time consuming but they look good installed and hopefully i'll never have any hood squeeks again.

Also came across my best deal ever on some more 61-63 caps.....can't have enough of these guys. No cracks or splits and no dents. Still need to polish them out but they will work great!!!! Nice to know there are still some reasonable finds out there.
