**** Still working on the interior. Right now I've got the 2 drivers side panels made and the front passenger side done. I'm still trying to figure out the rear section by the spare tire hole. I found a thread by another boardmember (67C10chevy) where he used a hard shell tire cover to place over his tire. I don't plan on carrying a spare, but I thought I would do the same thing but mount a subwoofer in it. Thoughts? Also, any tips on speakers? I plan on running to 6x9s on each side in between the 2nd and 3rd row seat and 2 6" rounds in the kick panels with a 12 -15" sub in the spare tire well. Should that be good enough? I'm running the RetroSound2 stereo unit so I'm not sure it can handle that much more. Suggestions are welcomed, :D. |
Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
I like using the spare well for the sub. Forego the 6x9s and get a good set of 6.5” components front and tear

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
That spare tire cover is a great idea. That's a great place to mount the sub too. You might have to make a divider to help with weird sound vibs but I'm not an expert on audio.
Selling so soon....... Craziness. Good luck with the sale. |

They are pricey, but as the old adage goes you get what you pay for. I’m with gringoloco forget the 6x9 and go with 6.5” components. Out of curiosity what are you asking for the burb? |

This guy I've been following on Instagram does really cool installs and he seems to use Illusion Audio and JL Audio stuff in many of his builds. I agree that 6.5" components are good for the front. 12" sub should provide all the bass you need.

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
The interior is looking really nice. Are you going to use a factory 3rd row?

What did you use for insulation under the carpet? I really wanted to use lizard skin, but damn that stuff is expensive.

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
Very nice work on the interior! I need to do the insulation over the wood in our 72 as well.

So I have all of the rear interior done except for the panels where the spare tire goes. A buddy of mine is going to build me a speaker box to go there and then I will finish the that area off. If any one needs a cover to go over there spare tire, let me know as I will be reselling this silver one I purchased. Up next, will be installing my amp and front speakers. Looks like I get to pull the front seat out again, uggghhhh.....

Re: 1969 SuperBurb build-up (Bagged and Blown!)
Looks good, what strip did you use on the end to clean up the install?

What do you want for the silver tire cover and what size tire can fit in it?

Looks great Rob! Which seatbelts did you end up going with for the back two rows of seats? I just bought some retractable shoulder belts from Morris for the front, but curious if those would also work for the back two seats. Thanks.

With the second row I used 88-98 3 point seat belts. My kids have never had a problem.
