Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Seamus - are those Chevy Corvette / Camero rally wheels ? If so, where did you get the old school hub caps that fit those wheels ?
Thanks, Nvrdone |
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
thanks for the info Seamus... we have about the same except mine has a 1973 Nova SS sub-frame and a 1981 Camaro 10-bolt with 3:42 gears, .030 over 327/300hp, with 86 305 HO heads, disc brakes all around. no power windows yet. so what kind of milage do you get with your set-up? Oh and T-5 5 speed out of a 89 s-10...still like your truck

I have not driven it yet as I got sidetracked on a Willys Jeep rebuild for the past 2 years...It is currently 3rd on my list of stuff to rework...gotta S10 frame swap going on now and then a 1 ton farm truck...then back on this one.. All I am actually lacking is a wiring harness than we should good to go...I love the finish on the cab...in rust we trust for sure... MikeC |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I was looking for a 2 tone paint reference to show my sister (56) an noticed a few pics of my truck. So... I thought I would throw up a few proper ones an say hi. I finished the build over 8 years ago an it's still motoring strong. I'm on the board a lot but always for my 68, which is now my daily instead of the 57. Cheers, Mike

Peterson Museum... Representing 57's! http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...33/photo_2.jpg an for the hell of it, here's a pic with skirts http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s...3/IMG_3118.jpg |

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
I'm usually a fan of skirts on just about anything, here however, it would need to be taildraggin for it to look the best. I actually like it better without them. The truck is so clean and damn nice looking. prime example of never getting sick of black with wide whites. some things can and never will go out of style. I also love these with the fleetside bed, but once again this thing just draws me in. I love it.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Me Too... I bought them long ago with a visor (gave the visor away) kept the skirts but I was never really a fan, just threw them on for that one show. I was in a section of the L.A. Grand National Roadster Show called the Suede Palace, having fun with the customs.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Very nice clean 56, like it without the skirts, sure a different look with though.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Von Zipper, beautiful truck, I saved a picture of it a while back. The color and stance is a major influence in the second rebuild of my 59.

Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Thanks, I can't take credit for the metal work. The guy in the first photo is responsible. His name is Joe Edwards and he is a real whiz when it comes to fabrication. He welded in the Camaro sub-frame and did the panel replacement. He had to fab the inner panels from scratch so there was something to weld the outer sheet metal to. Now it's back at my house and I only get to work on it as time and money allow, so it may take a long time to complete.
|
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
another fellow PA build, looks killer man. I bet they don't make most those patch panels like from the door back to the rear quarter. He prolly fabbed that piece up right? i hear ya on money, wow I been barely keeping up with my schedule bouncing around things that I don't need much money for. I'm now at the cross roads again, need money and to make it all worse, my gal lost her job. Its never ending man, hang in there.
|
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
Actually, I lucked out with the patch panels. They were in the back of the truck when I bought it! All 4 pieces. They had light surface rust all over, but no holes. I originally bought the Burb just to get the patch panels to use on my "55 Panel Truck. After I bought it ($500.00 with a running thriftmaster and the super rare hydramatic trans), I decided to sell the Panel and do the Suburban instead. I figured my 4 kids would like to have windows to look out. But that meant doing everything to the Burb that was already done to the Panel Truck ( sub-frame, A/C, posi, tilt wheel, Etc).
|
Re: How about some pics of 47-59
cool glad you lucked out on the patches. yeah burbs are so sick. I got a couple AD panels but really don't wanna invest the time and money into them cause I'd much rather do a burb. That and a COE, AD trucks are my thing. But I def been digging the 55.2-59 trucks a ton lately.
Good luck with the build. |
