Nice work, Bam! I know exactly what you mean about doing something and then tearing it all out later. I've doing it for years!

Don't tell anyone, but I've been working on my '55 for the last few days. The Old Girl needed some love, and I spent the last couple of days going through all my parts and doing an inventory. I've got a game plan, and want to have it at a certain point before Father's Day. Gotta set some goals!

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Thanks guys,

The set back of installing the x member means I can no longer use the factory brake assembly. So here is my brake bracket I fabricated. As you can see I also had to notch the frame to have clearance for the Hydroboost unit.

I already modified the panel assembly, all that is required is a push rod extension but I think I better wait until the cab is back on to mock it up so that I know the brake is in the right spot.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Great looking truck project. I'm building a 56 stepside shortbox to mount above a newer Yukon or Tahoe 4x4 chassis. I've got a lot of patch panel and dolly work behind me, but still need cab corners, steps, rails, etc.
I just found a 56 car dash and was wondering if ya had any tips or tricks for the swap? I dont have the dash out of the car yet, so Im starting fresh.
thanks, appreciate any advice,
Dave

Here is the piece I fabricated for the pedal assembly. https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8695/1...380ea6c964.jpg
After a lot of measuring here it is tacked in place. I'm going to leave it tacked until the cab is back on the frame, because I may have to move it a little bit.

Here is the pedal installed. Yes the push rod connection clears the bottom tube by about 1/2 inch. As you can see I need to make or purchase a longer push rod extension.

You should be able to make it out of thick wall DOM tubing and then just drill it to size and tap it. Im doing the same thing on mine, I have the same unit.

I think Im gonna clevis the Booster end, then tap one side LH thread and one side RH thread on the rod. With RH and LH rod ends this will make it adjustable in place.

lookin good!

Mr. Bam you're the man. Your creativity is exceptional. What Hydro-boost are you going to use? New? salvage? Dodge? Chev? I sure hope that truckin gods smile down upon you and you're blessed with time, health, and fundage to keep on truckin. Be safe Chase

Just preference. I wanted a satin black but all they had was flat black and I like it.

I got it from jegs. It does not come with the clevis. It has 3/8 -21 female and 3/8 -21 male on the other end. Its about 9 inches long but I had to cut it down and drill and tap it to fit my application.

Nice work here Bam - thats the way Im gonna have to reconfigure mine too as the m/c with the hydro-booster hits my trans x-member. It was becoming a head scratcher for me....

Your work gives people ideas and the where-with-all to re-fab stuff that just doesnt fit this new "Bolt-on Accessory" world we live in... THANK YOU!!!
