So I have been working from home for the last few weeks so one would think lots of garage time. Its been just the opposite. When the economy is bad our company gets very busy. We are a flexible printer for consumable packaging.
Here are some recent progress...I installed the Altman easy latches. I realized that the striker plate will take some modifications as my doors are 47-50 but my body is a 53. The bad part is the striker plates were already painted.... I also took some new chrome door handles and gave them a satin finish. I love how they turned out. I think it goes with the over all theme better. After seeing how well the door handles turned out I plan to treat all of my chrome to this satin finish....more to come. Stay safe/healthy out there...... |

Got a little more done on Friday and Saturday. I modified one of the striker plates from my Altman easy latch kit.The other side should go quicker. Once modified, I will repaint them. I created a small bracket for the throttle cable. Happy with how it turned out. I threw on my air cleaner to see what the finished product will look like. Waiting on some fuel rail brackets that should show next week then I can finalize my fuel supply all the way up the the throttle body.
On Friday I got my injectors back from being cleaned and the screens and O-rings changed. I learned the hard way on my 48 that injectors get gummed up when sitting. This can complicate the trouble shooting process on the first start up. They provide you with readouts of before and after too see how the injectors are working. I had one that was not working at all but after several back flushes they got it firing. So that was $$ well spent. Lastly on Saturday my sound deadening material showed up so I got busy installing that..... tomorrow I will sand blast and rebuild one door hinge Marc |

Last night I worked on mounting my ECU under the seat. I had to notch thhe edge of the seat opening slightly to allow the computer to slid back some....I cut a 2.25" pass thru hole for the rubber grommet. I also used these simple ECU mounts that grab the ECU on the sides. To fasten these to the floor, I used nut zirts that I think are slick. Also while I was at it I needed to get a sneak peak of my gauges....I still need to make a small bracket to mount a small fuse panel from the LS (BP Automotive) wiring harness.
Thanks Marc |

Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
are those the coyote swap 5" DD gauges? I noticed those a couple months ago and I like how they fit the hole. the 47-53 DD gauges use an adapter ring and for expensive gauges I just think thats... low effort?
if so, thanks for showing me what they look like! |
Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
gauge looks great Marc ...

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1587099013 this is the coyote swap set I looked at. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/a...1&d=1587099013 fit a 5" hole but from the front, which is nice when you have a lot of stuff in the dash like I do. you will have to tell me how you like them! |

I picked up my painted seats from the painter. One (middle) had a sizable run in the clear so I took it back to be fixed. I think the white seats frames in gloss with offer some nice contrast to interior. I also installed a Newport Engineering wiper motor. Moving forward.

Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
Marc, how did the install of the Newport engineering wiper motor go? Do you think it's worth the money? Will you be retrofitting the factory knob onto the switch?
