Rear Parking Brake Levers, never should have cleaned up around the truck BEFORE doing the brake job. On the hunt now for replacement levers.

Drove my truck 10 miles for the first day after getting the truck registered. Slow moving thats for sure. :) Need to get the rear end rebuilt, cant go faster than 50 miles an hour. Here it is in my new front yard after the drive and a wash.

installed new heads and got mine back on the road.

Finished connecting the wiring on the ididit column to the painless harness, reinstalled the tach and my new mooneyes wheel then hooked up the horn. I love it when everything works the first time, had time for a cruise before the game.

Repaired my core support and both inner fenders so they could be sand blasted and powder caoted flat black along with my hood hinges.

sanded and painted two wheels dark dark gray. started stripping the chrome and rust from the grill for its paint this week.

not much changed the oil again on the new motor,fixed the fuel that was dripping from the hose at the fuel filter!thats about it....:smoke:

going to tow our race car on a road trip Sunday..
BTW,anyone remember where the thread is regarding replacing lower steering shaft bearing?

As to what I did today.... spent most of the day finishing the mockup of running duals on my 65, then tack welding and finish welding all the joints. I need to add hangars, then disassemble and paint all the weld joints with high temp. paint. I will update my build thread then. I must be getting old, two days in a row out in the shop kicked my butt... I am one tired dude!

Exhaust is done, except for hangars... here is a video clip.

Old School: Long tube headers, 28" Cherry Bomb's and full length 2-1/2" diameter duals (no crossover pipe)

Pulled the speedometer gear housing out and dropped ATF all over the driveway. Ooooops...

I tried to polish the scratches out of the windshield. I'll never understand why people will ruin a $400.00 whindshield insted of buying $10.00 worth of new wiper blades. it still looks terable but I can see better. by the way this is a 64 I bought for parts for my wife's truck but it was in sutch good shape we desided to drive it insted. now it's my dayly driver other than my harley.

A few weeks ago we installed Gabriel gas shocks on all four corners. The rears (60-62) worked great, but the fronts (63-85) Gas Ryder Truck shocks were dreadful, like having no shocks at all. The truck wallowed around like a 48 Pontiac, wandered on the road and took 3 or 4 cycles to stop bouncing after easing over a speed bump. Went back to the super duty gas shocks up front and got them installed today after repainting them black. Now the truck again feels confident like it can handle anything. With the standard shocks it took a lot of work just to keep going straight and not get sick! Another learning experience.

Yes indeed. The big shocks are Monroe part number 76817 currently titled Gas Grande, and are almost excessively stiff and take a great deal of effort to compress by hand. Here’s a link to a Napa posting:

The ineffective shocks are Gabriel part number 61525. I'm pretty sure mine were labeled Gas Ryder. The ones on the link are labeled Sport Ryder. The Gabriel site lists them as Pro Guard (all under the same p/n). They can be compressed rather easily, and I've got a bad hand/arm. Here’s a link to where I bought them:

Perhaps because they were old stock they weren’t up to snuff, but I also bought a matching pair of rear 60-62 shocks from the same source and they are tip top. To me the 61525's just seem too soggy for the application.

Well did it yesterday but on the '65, swapped out the 3" dropped springs for CPP dropped modular spindles and half coil cut off stock springs. Put new KYB shocks and CPP upper shock mount reinforcing brackets and new sway bar bushings. Also pressed in two new wheel studs. It was a long day in 90+ heat but in the end all worth it. Truck drives like a completely different truck... in a good way! :D

Well new here, and today did a complete tuneup on my 66 shortbed stepside, plans for the week are to change all the hoses on the 76 350 engine that is in it.

Today I started building 2 solid aluminum ball bearing watts link center sections. One will be mine and one will be Lukes.. (frenchblue72)
Then I got some more work done on the drip rail shave.

I finaly got 700r4 up and running yesterday. And today will finish power door lock on passenger side. And. I'm hoping to see if I have enought metal to start working on the bed
