I wasn’t really happy with the way the windshield fit and then I figured out that the gasket was installed incorrectly. My brother in law came over and we pulled out the windshield, put the seal on correctly and put it back in (after being YouTube certified). Much better now, I should have put it in myself the first time instead of relying on a “professional”.

Thanks Brian, now that the windshield is in I can start putting on the hood and fenders. The goal is to have it all together by the weekend of October 6th so I can detail it out for a show the following weekend.

Only made a little progress, got the shifter cable and cable support welded in an tested. All good.
Used an bolt to hook the cable to the shift column.
I'm pretty sure they make a pin to go in that spot, but I have lost it and can't find another to order.

I cut the area out of the brace and made a pattern to patch it. I just couldn't stop tonight, worked a couple of hours because now it's creating something, making the hood fit the sectioned cab, it fires me up. I cut the brace at the hinge mount and started fit that brace on the cab. Now mind you, my brain is about to explode right now after working on this tonight. I am working a very thin line to make this fit without changing the hinge geometry which I do NOT want to do. So keeping the mod below the hinge mounting point at the bottom is the limit have, I think I have it figured out and will proceed tomorrow.

Not really working on the truck, just doing some 'normal' checkup/maintenance: engine oïl, coolant, battery charge level and... tires pressure and discovered that these tires are missing quite a lot of pressure, almost one bar! I alway forget to check them!

Normal/checkup maintenance: That's the part I never get to. Oh, and for us Americans, 1 bar = about 14.5 psi. (...and I really hate it when I miss a bar, but that's a different topic.)

As for my progress, I'm wet sanding - mostly on the doors, preparing for the day in the distant future when the humidity is below 75% so I can shoot some paint.

Good luck over there in France. Great having you on the forum!

After 8 months of sanding, sent ‘70 stepside to the painter. Paint done, today is buff n polish day. Can’t wait to get her back in my own garage for reassembly.
The whole paint process began due to wanting to replace the tailgate that had a dent in it from my son-in-law when transporting it from Ft Worth to home in Las Vegas two years ago. Great kid though. He took my old tailgate and made a bench out of it for my birthday last month.

When the truck is done I'm going to make a garage bar with my old tailgate. Stay tuned.

Tonight I'm working on the interior. If I could carry the bench up from the basement by myself, it would be in too...

I got the inner hood brace cut up and working. It took a little recess in the cowl right at the fender as It thought it would a few days ago so all is good. I am pleased with it. I also painted a few parts for under the dash.

Going back together after the sender plug fiasco. To save my back, I lowered the head down onto the engine with a cherry picker. Although it's difficult working on the engine in the truck, I'd much rather do that than take the front sheet metal off.

Ah, i suck at computers. No pic, but my garage is covered and sealed, not sided. The truck is inside and at home. Thanks to all for all of the info on where I should go with the build. I just wanted to start at the beginning and go from there on this thread. This is what I did on my truck today.

Once your garage is complete enough to start on the truck you might consider starting a build thread. That way all of your stuff is in one place, and you can still make entries here whenever you feel like it. Good luck with both projects!

I worked on the rad support tonight. Removed the brace on the side that had been cut up and removed the good one off my one out of the front clip. I always have to think of guy who welded those spot welds when I remove one. The man was feeding his family doing those welds.

I also have to think how far we have came in this stuff when years ago I would have been cutting a piece of metal and welding it on that brace to repair it instead of simply drilling the spot welds out "unbolting" it and doing the same on the donor and welding it back on just like it was never touched, cool.

I also cleaned up some hack work that was done to the replacement rad support, drilled out the rusted and broken off bolt and drilled it out, and ran a tap through the hole so it's ready to go. Chased the threads with the tap in all the other nuts too.

I also straightened the metal support rods so they look good. I am thinking I am going to weld the upper tie bar on like it was from the factory. I was planning on bolting it, but now I am thinking I will weld it on like it was from the factory, done deal. Once I get this thing finished I can just have it powder coated.

Re-installed the intake manifold, distributor, spark plugs, adjusted valves and installed the covers. Another day or two and I may have this thing back to square one.

Tested operations, pulled it out of the garage (under its own power) and got pulled back in front ways. Now that it is away from the wall and I can walk around the truck, I can maybe get stuff done. As you can see, it has been backed in for years and my bike was over the bed.
Secondly I would like to add the CPP power disc brakes and power steering worked awesome.

If you are like me, far far away from part sources, you will have put them in a small box with tape on it and part name written, all well stored in a place you could find them easily.
This is what I do for 'rare' parts, I am also loosing a lot of other ones, mainly because I store them in the bin! hahaha

@MiraclePieCo , congratulations for the engine, going much quicker than you had expected !
P.S : I sent you a PM

OK, idbeast, now you're making me work. :mm: As we get older, we forget stuff, and I couldn't remember what happened to your arm. So I had to search back all the way to AUGUST 30TH (!) to figure out you were going in for heart exploratory surgery through the arm. How'd it go? What did they do? I hope all is well...

Sorry about that Bob, and everyone else, last Friday I had a clogged lower left artery, they removed the blockage and put in a stint. The 5 lb weight limit and not using the right arm was to make sure the artery in my wrist healed completely. I'm doing really good now, and don't get tired walking!:mm:
