Got me some hinges today. Had to bribe him for the instructions.:uhmk: I'm thinking about something like this for between the seats. Maybe blend it into the firewall better. Found my bumper brackets for my rear bumper. Thanks Spud I forgot you gave me some they where still in the old ladies truck. Lots to do this weekend.

Re: Daverods project 66

the basic shape of the console is .... ok , i would resess the center a bit and make the edge of the dash extend towart the seats it would make it look more factorie made and you dont have to rip out the whole console to get inside it (the resessed part can be screwed on top ) makes it eazier to extend it to the firewhall and cover too (you prolly cant shove the consolle under the dash if its one piece )

Should I do it out of fiberglass? Good ideas.:metal: I'm thinking I can put my air bag switches there and the airpressure stuff. I'm hoping it will make my dash tie in alittle more. I still need to figure out how to round the corners like Allans. Maybe split a 1" pipe in half and wrap the outside edge in that?

watahyahknow 11-03-2010 08:33 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

you could make the sides out of mdf it makes less mess can be rounded simple by a router and isnt as smelly you could cover that in carpet (makes closing gaps eazier ) or leather , i would make the top in sheetmetal if only to provide a grounding for the switches and stuff , you can either spraypaint it or cover the top in thin wood depending on youre dash covering

to round the metal edges i think pipe would work . i think i would start with a frame in pipe or roundbar if weight isnt a concern and cover that with plate

Split a pipe in half and framed my dash. Just what I wanted, worked great. I need to get some bucket seats so I can figure out my center console.

I have been up playing in the snow and took these for you Dave , Winter is coming !! Get your sled running.
I left the Elk up there, and we saw more wolves than bulls.

Getting caught back up on your build - It is looking good!!
Too bad about Brothers losing your stuff, They have always shipped mine as promised although I have been a little disappointed in some of the reproduction quality, and tolerances.
I guess metric is the standard in China

I fired them up today. I've held off from buying a new sled one more year.:metal: It's harder every year. Just more money I can put in my truck. Washed about an 1/2 inch of dust off. Nice of you to leave the elk in the mountains we'll get them next year.:uhmk: Walked about 2 feet from, a wolf last year and did'nt even see it till it jumped up and took off.;)

You should count your lucky stars that Brothers didn't send you a bumper. They are thin asian made crap!
Find an old painted bumper and send it out to have it chromed..
WAY better quality

the air engine thing would be best the electric pump tend to draw a lot of current and there noizy (better mount them near the rear of the truck )

there some airco units that can be eazily converted lo the airpumps forgot the exact type and brand just remembered that they where mounted in some of the older volvo's , i had a website about the subject somewhere but i lost it in the wood of weblinks i got on this laptop

No Bubba I kinda like the bomb thing. Besides I just bought a new rubber neck thing for it.:uhmk: Last time I was messing withb the tank I needed to take it out you have to kinda tip it down to get it out. Anyway gas came out the fill hole and went averywhere. It was then I saw the wires going to the gas sender were caught on somthing and where shorting like crazy. I really can't believe I'm still here.

I'm sure if you where doing it you would have red taged it or somthing smart. er er

Christmas came early today. New bumper and side trim for the 64. Got the stuff from Classic parts, came quick, bumper seems to be a nice one. The trim was packed in a tube, one piece had a couple dents, tube had no dents? Can't wait to get the buymper on.:smoke: oh ya I can't do that for awhile.:mm: I mounted my air compressors. I was running them from a battery charger and it almost melted the cord? Phoned them about the trim, sending a new piece in 24 hours. Brothers needs to take lessons from these guys. Trim came with clips to mount them. I don't think they tell you that I ordered a clip set.
