I been a very busy over the last year. I remodeled the entire house with an addition. The wife told me while we are at it to build a workshop for my tools that way only my cars where in the garage. We also added a driveway between the garage and the new workshop, a fence that sections off my part of the yard from hers.lol

I had my handy man build the structure and I did all the electrical and drywall.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

I after doing the shed I was tired of sanding due to installing all the drywall and stuff. So I decided to focus my attention on the LS engine. It was sitting so long that I just want to rebuild it. I bored it to a 5.7 and added 5.7 flattop pistons, and TSP 228r cam, and ARP rod bolts, other than that the rotating assembly is stocked.

Engine back together. Oh I also brought some used 243 heads of ebay and had them rebuilt also.
https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8864/2...e3bc9d13_b.jpg
Other things I did was paint the valve the same color as the trucks and found some aftermarket coil brackets that I like way better than the OEM ones and headers.

Ready to fire it up for the first time. I only let it run a little while due to no radiator. My setup is a engine dolly I made, along with a front that is removable. It just slides into the legs of the dolly. For gas I used Lawn Mower gas tank that I modified for a return line, PSI wiring harness and basic tune (still have to have it tuned for the cam), external fuel pump, corvette filter regulator, and drive by wire.

Here is a link to a short video of it running. I only let it run for a short time due to no radiator. It sounds pretty good. https://www.flickr.com/photos/bam55/...7670272808501/

Thanks guys.

Its nothing like rebuilding an engine and starting her up for the first time. Its great feeling. I'm now rebuilding the 4L60e. I have it all torn apart in my workshop, I just need to inspect all the components and what I will replace and that is trashed. I will make it beefier thats for sure. Than I can installing it in the truck for the last time.lol

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build

Thanks guys for the comments on the tool shed it one of the best things I've ever done as far as space is concerned. I wanted it bigger but permits would not allow. It is 12x14 with a driveway between it and the garage. I can park a car between the two and work. My wife has great ideas sometimes.

I can't wait to get the engine in the truck, but I'm going to hold off until I rebuild the 4L60E and I also have to get better torque converter because of the cam.

Here are some pics of the trans tear down and cleaned up.

I have not had time to inspect the components yet, maybe this weekend I can get that done. I need to start ordering parts. I know a sun shell is a must that is a weak link on the stocked 700r4 and 4L60e.

I really like it a lot, plus their costumer service is great. The harness is really plug and play.

Wow, glad to see you back on here, Bam. Your work on here is pretty inspirational to a lot of us. You do such good work with not a lot of training, tools or equipment, just a vision, a good plan and a lot of hard work. Same with the shop. Looks great!
And yeah, nothing like firing an engine for the first time. Well, except maybe getting girls shirt off for the first time... endorphins I suppose.

Bam

Great shed, good place for engine assembly, storage when engines are completed. How long after the concrete was poured did you put the floor seal on?

You might try to rig some supporting uprights and cross members to get a shade on the space between the buildings. steel up rights that set down in the concrete a pipe, that the upright will snug down into the bung in the concrete slab, then some pipe to join to support a light see through corrugated roofing. Something that can be temporary so the local authorities won't drain you on permits and other non esential drivel. Tarps for sides that can be rolled upped and stored.

Just a thought.

The floor? I used Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield with the powder grit and clear coat. That stuff is really strong. I laid the roller on a piece of wood and came back the next day and could get it off. I hit it the roller with a hammer and it split the wood.lol It was put on about 4-5 weeks after the concrete was poured. The concrete was poured, the next week structure was started (it took about two weeks to complete), then I did the drywall, taping, and paint. That took another 2 weeks. I rolled on the Epoxysheild, the next day I rolled the clear with the grit mixed in. The base molding came from lowes.

I have a canopy that I use on hot days. You are right about permits in my area, they are strict so I use a canopy because its no permit is required and its easy to remove.

This actually was her idea. She was tired of junky backyard we built a fence that separates my area from hers.lol
https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5644/2...ce7ab40e1b.jpg

On the other side of that fence is my driveway, shed/workshop, and garage. I can't bring any car stuff pass that fence that is her section of the backyard.lol
