Yeah, but your like me and you'll look forward to it once its painted up.

I did a few "test places" in the fleetside Saturday since we had 2" of rain. The red rattle can is coming off nicely, but the black was sprayed with real paint and will probably get the same treatment as the stepside.....so the process will begin again. I'm hoping to locate a donar dash for the fleetside since it needs so much work to make it right again. If I can find a decent donar, then I'll spend the time to repair this one.

Got the headers from a forum member running the same combo, but his trucks lowered and it lowered his exhaust to far. Im at stock height on a taller tire, so we should be golden...but say your prayers to the truck gods for. Will be glad to have this bump overcome.

Those headers look beautiful. So do the engine towers for that matter.

Thanks mark!! I wasnt going to paint the mounts originally, they came in black...but once I found the coated headers, I thought they'd look ok.

Was a late day of work, so took the time to just clean and polish up the cluster. Still looks good from restore I did in 2010. I want to seperate turn signals and add a few more lights in the open places on the back. Also want to add some grounds.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

Haha...right. all gauges working good prior to pulling, so just used a clean paint brush to knock off any dust, polished the lens, polished and waxed the chrome and pulled some light fixtures off an old harness so color and sockets are correct.

how, and what products did you polish the lens with? i have a gauge type, its nice on the lettered side with minor haze on the outside. no major sctraches...

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC

I keep a full set of back up gauges for both clusters, but they all read correct and ive only lost a fuel and temp gauge in 20 years. Have had a speedo rebuilt and worm gear replaced, but the gauges were built good and the speedos loosing calibration is the most common issue.

Bowtie bits put a new resistor in a fuel gauge, I used my back up and that ones in the spare box now

I use paste style toothpaste and an old cotton tshirt. Colgate baking soda & peroxide...brisk mint if that matters. Im sure theres other products, but this has always worked for me.

Doesnt take much. Lay the lens on a thin towell over a hard surface. Polish with paste and shirt. Wipe clean. Polish again with clean cloth. I use circular motions and it has taken off overspray and light scratches. Smells decent too unlike most of the products we use. Repeat if needed.

More cab prep done today. Pulled tank, door gaskets, vents and were really close to paint. Got underdash covered and masked off. Need an extra set of hands to pull glass. Minor work left and primer/paint.

For some reason my phone flipped all the column pics....I'll try again. Doing more prep Saturday....got the 4 speed column cleaned up, prepped, primed and painted. Hadn't touched a compressor gun in near 20 years and no runs in the paint so I was well pleased with progress.

I stuck with spraying outside until the big barn is up...will start work here in a few weeks on that. Luckily, no bugs or debris in paint. We'll mask off the carport with plastic when we do the interior and hose down the floor after a good clean out with the leaf blower. Not the most ideal spot, but its working for now.

Got the parts moved into the tool shed to sit overnight. Good thing to, since our weather guy didn't mention the rainstorms that came through about 2 hours after I finished spraying. I know this is small stuff, but I wanted some practice with the new gun before I tackle the cab. I think it'll be ok, so color this week once the rain passes through mon/tues.

You and me both. Ready to reassemble the cab. I need to make some progress on the engine/trans this week also and get the windshield and back glass out. Austin's back from Puerto Rico today...so maybe I'll have some hands this week.
