Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well I'm supposed to be back in Belle Rose, La again right now for the Laris Motorsports Cajun' Sports Nationals but! Mother Nature has rearranged those plans. They have rescheduled that race for the first weekend of May. No fun for me until April 19th in Noble, Oklahoma.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
We are two weeks out from our next Divisional in Noble Ok. Two weeks after that we will be back in Belle Rose La for the rescheduled Cajun Sports Nationals. Then two weeks later it's back to the Tx Motorplex for the double divisional. That's four races in six weeks! Actually half of the season in a short period of time. I saw online the other day that Prescott Raceway in Prescott Arkansas is having a 7.0 1/8th mile index race this weekend. They allow throttle stops so I can run it. And it's a .500 Pro Tree like we use in Super Street. I normally only run 7.60 to 7.70 in the 1/8th on my 10.90 stuff but I have had to set up for 6.90 1/8th mile twice. It will be fun to just go race and hit the tree some before we get busy. If anyone is close by to Prescott come on out.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Dang I haven't posted in awhile. Prescott was fun. My first pass I was .013 on the tree 7.005 @ 125mph. Second pass I was 7.005 also. It looked like I knew what I was doing. I redlit third round and Jarrod's car broke so we just cooked and hung out the rest of the evening. Noble Ok didn't go to well. The truck did fine and ran good all weekend. We had good air all weekend. The truck was faster there than it's ever been running almost 154mph. I was in the first pair down track Sunday morning first round. I had to run my old friend Chucky Weir. He was .017 to my ughh .040 on the tree. He killed a bunch on the top end and I thought I took the stripe but I missed it by .01 or 24 inches. He went through on a 10.94 to my 10.95. He gave me room but I screwed it up.We are heading back to Belle Rose La this week for the rescheduled Cajun Sports Nationals. Maybe I can get it together and do some good.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well I've been so busy racing and working I haven't posted. We went back to Belle Rose La for the Sports Nats. I redlit third round by .005 but I made some points. We just had the Double Divisional at the Tx Motorplex last weekend. I lost first round by .01 in a top end battle. I redlit third round of the second race because something caught my eye. It was bad like -.200 bad. The round before I made a perfect run! .000 on the tree and 10.900. I wont race anymore until September since I'm five races in and we have three left. We have a double race in Tulsa in September then our last Division race is in Lufkin Tx the week after the Fall Nationals at the Tx Motorplex.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
On another note. I actually logged on because I had an email from Photobucket that my account was going to be cancelled. Apparently they changed their terms but didn't give anyone a notice. They are charging $5.00 a month for their services. I went ahead and reupped it because people actually still read this stuff. Maybe I need to start a GoFundMe for the knowledge I'm spreading? Lol

Photobucket ruined many of forums. That is why most suggest using the forum image hoster.

Are you done for the year? |
Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
This is by far one of my favorite threads on this site. Any plans for the truck over the winter? My stepson and I are going to be working on his '72 C1500 (used to be mine) with a 406 over the winter to get it ready to hopefully make his first quarter mile passes this coming spring and summer.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well I guess could at least give an update. I bet I haven't posted twice on the internet in months. The Tulsa race in September went pretty dang good. I made it to the 5th round (Semi Finals) both races. That made for a good points weekend and a good start on the 2025 Jegs Allstar points. After that we were supposed to race the Fall Nationals at the Tx Motorplex and our last Divisional in Lufkin Tx the following week. Something happened and they put the Lufkin race in with the week long Stampede of Speed at the Fall Nationals. We made a couple of time trials on Monday and went into first round Tuesday morning. I lost 2nd round in a double breakout. Had I won that round I would have had a bye run 3rd round. I came into the race with a chance to win Division but it wasn't in the cards. I lost 2nd round of the National Event to Bo Butner (as in Pro Stock Bo Butner) apparently I wanted to kick his butt pretty bad. I was .007 to his .005 on the tree. I was in front of him at the stripe and got to aggressive with the brake pedal. I was trying to cut it in close but ended up giving it to him by .004. That was Saturday morning and since I had been there since Sunday I packed up and went home. I did finish 6th in Division Points with 301 points which isn't bad.

Congratulations on your season. Looking forward to seeing you next year at the Motorplex. Unless you want to come out a run with us slow guys.

Re: Ok Boys and Girls it's Storytime
Well the time is coming near to put everything back together. My heads are ready with the exception of Slick Rick waiting on valve springs. My short block is almost done also. When they are ready I'll bring everything home and finish the motor. I made a few changes during the downtime. I freshened the transmission and sent my Converter back to Coan for a freshen and a slight re-stall hopefully just a couple hundred rpm looser. Chris at Bullet cams ground me a new camshaft I'm hoping will work out. It's big one with 117 lobe separation (hence the reason for the stall change). I also bit the bullet and got a Jesel belt drive distributor which has been much needed for years. That burned up some of the money I saved by having Line to Line coat my old pistons instead of ordering new ones. I'll have to rework a few things to use it but at least the distributor will be easier to access now. I'm hoping to get it on the dyno but I'm not sure if I'll have time or not. Maybe next time I post I'll have some new pics to put up.
