Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
OK. I'm trading my 47 Chevy truck bed that needs rust repair, and use another bed parts from my friend to make one good bet. In exchange he will give me his 17" Torque Thrust wheels & tires. Once I get them on my truck, that will really motivate me.
I'm almost done with the 73 F-250, and the 57 Sedan Delivery. http://belair.smugmug.com/Cars/AUGIE...1020480-XL.jpg http://belair.smugmug.com/Cars/KUSTO...1020475-XL.jpg http://belair.smugmug.com/Cars/KUSTO...1020698-XL.jpg This means I'll be out of work. :waah: BUT I'll have time to get stuff done on the 65. :metal: $00000000.00 coming in though. |
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Dennis maybe you can relate to this...
One of my pet peaves about doing someone elses build is when we start, plan and time frame in hand, life happens and they need to "put the project on hold for a while"... Of course the assumption is, storing their "project" for them... sometimes for years. How do you get around that? In a nice way...;) |

This 40 Ford Woodie is a very good friend of mine. When he has the money, I'll start on it. Meanwhile I'm storing for him until he's ready. http://belair.smugmug.com/Cars/KUSTO...P1020229-L.jpg |
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I'm still sittin.:lol: Nice try though.:mm: It's good to have friends, better when friends have $$.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Cleaned up the shop, and brought in my 750 Seca's to make 1 out of 3 bikes. I also traded some work for these American Racing Torque Thrust wheels. They will look even better than the Cragers. These wheels will inspire me to get back on the project. :metal: Any takers for the 15 and 16" Cragers?
http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...1020487-XL.jpg I have a lot of polishing to do. :uhmk: http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...1030029-XL.jpg |
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
these are just THE best rims for any truck or american car
|
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I agree, they always have been my favorites. I didn't say what size they are. This makes them even better. All 4 are 17" :metal::metal::metal:

Gives me an excuse to drive to anywhere not as hot as this freaking oven I live in.. Hahahaha :haha: |
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
So make me an offer before I clean them up and put them on Craigs List. 3 Tires are good.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Got inspired after installing the Torque Trusts, and put the cab back on. I need to fab the body, bed mounts and the engine mounts. Then I'll restore the rest of the frame.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I'll use ones I cut off an S-10 frame, or make my own for the rear. The front half of the frame is still a 65. ;)

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Oh, gotcha..

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I forgot to post some pictures of some progress. Got the engine and 700r4 trans in. Had to make my own motor mounts so the free headers will fit. Still have to modify the frame crossmember on the drivers side for the header clearance. You can see where I'll notch the crossmember at the yellow chalk mark.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Cleaned up the shop, and slapped the front end on with a few bolts to make room. I'm tempted to get it running and drive it while I'm working on the body. But I really need to restore the frame and bag it first and then do that.
http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...1030214-XL.jpg http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...1030218-XL.jpg Definitely needs to be bagged. This is with just dropped spindles. http://belair.smugmug.com/Other/1965...1030217-XL.jpg |

What do you think of me putting Mustang tail lights side ways on my truck. With LED's of course.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
They'll work nicely!

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I wanted something from Chevy, or Corvette, but I think these look pretty good for Ford Lights. :metal:

what an overrated tin turd that 68 was/is. Then I found out they made half a million a year and I wonder... "so what makes these things rare or valuable?" So I started the He-man Mustang haters club.... :) My 97 dually has a "mustangs suk" bumpersticker:lol: :5150: |

so people don't think I am only negative, being a mustang hater and all, I"ll throw out this suggestion.
67 'vette tail lights. Turned 90 degrees. That way they follow the same angle as the fender. 2 stacked wouldn't be over the top and they are cool looking... Just a suggestion.. :5150: |
