Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
We've had 100*+ days since late last week.
Did get my brake line fitting in yesterday so got it installed and the brakes are sealed up. So need to fill and bleed them. |
Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Your truck is really looking good! I'm making a list now of some guys to reach out to if I can find the space/time/ money to do a frame off resto on my 66. You definitely made that list. Will be spending more time on your build page, for sure.
Awesome Work! Pappyx4! |

Also....I was up in Winchester.....back in Oct I believe. Up at the North South skirmish association. My father is a gunsmith and FFL dealer and had some trades going on so we went up for the day. I also lived in Tidewater from 1999-2006 |

I am about to have the pleasure of meeting Lugnutz65chevy. Really looking forward to hanging out and talking trucks. How many people are you expecting for you July 4th get together? Think it would be about an 8hr ride for me. |
Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
So far up to around 20 people and 5-6 vehicles. Kinda got thrown together at the last minute. A lot of peoples trucks off the road right now getting work done. Mine included. Hoping to have the engine fired off by then though.
Will try and do another when it cools off....maybe Septemberish. Lugnutz65 is a great dude.....helped me find my other 63.....is a short fleet big back window. Will be the next project after the stepside. And will definitely let you know when heading back up that way!!! |

Well....all the rain has been a big slow down.
Did get a few hours in on the buffer with the driver side cover. I think another hour tonight and it'll be ready for paint. This one has more flaws in the casting than the other, so the finish won't be quite as good, but I'll get it to pop. |

And heres a before pic with the 4 coats of paint prior to starting the work.
Were painted black, silver, orange and silver again. A lot of stripping, sanding and polishing. I'm probably up to around 30-35 hours per cover from start to finish. |

Another small problem fixed. Been working out the bugs on the throttle assembly. Was able to salvage the OEM cab mount and throttle rod. Did have to order a 1/4" heim joint and retap the end of the rod to 1/4" coarse. Also had to drill the carb mount out to 1/4" to accept the heim, but all hooked up and feels nice and smooth.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Also got some more time in on the valve cover. Should have the last of the polishing done tonight and taped for paint.

Looks great. I wish knew you needed fine thread hiems. I have several. I did get a little done on mine this weekend. You are right it is just hot.

Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Its no problem. Once I fixed the bracket clearance I realized the hole on the carb bracket I was going to use was for the push style system and ours pulls the throttle back.....so did some online image searches and found the ball/stud style helm on ebay for like $4 shipped. Had to drill out rhe carb bracket, but its all buttoned up and feels good.

Finally got the call I've been waiting on. American Autowire just called and my new harness is enroute. Should see either Saturday (if I'm lucky) or Monday. So goal is to get the engine to fire over the 4th of July holiday.
Nothing done yesterday. Had to go pick up a new project from my father in laws house, so wasn't home until around 930 last night. 16' Fisher Hawk Special 40hp and 40# thrust trollin motor. |
Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Looking forward to seeing the new harness. Neat new project. :chevy:

Crappy pic, was late. I've got a pic of the internet that's the same model as mine too show what it will look like when cleaned up.
Will need new carpets and seats redone. Batteries still good even though sitting for 3 years. Will need a new water pump and tires, which is a pretty easy fix and shake down any other little gremlins I come across. |

Looking forward to them. Saw the one you posted earlier. Nice to see another fender mounted spare truck getting back on the road.
Heat index has been 105-115 lately down here. No fun until after 7pm. |

Harness's did show up Friday. And then it rained the next 36 hours. So....switched gears to the boat under the barn. Got the back half of the panels removed and recarpeted. Got the panels reinstalled yesterday and the new seats in. Still have to do the rod box and two forward decks / hatches.
Then back on the stepside. Got the forward harness installed and the harness mounted down. American Autowire did a great job on the harness. The alternator line now runs across the firewall and down the top of the passenger valve cover. Looks very clean and still retains the originality on the look of the harness. Very satisfied!!! So just need to bleed clutch and brakes, add fluids and ready to fire. |

Thanks guys. No new updates on the truck. Rain hasn't been playing nice for the couple of things I need to do under the truck.
Have gotten more boat work done though trying to stay busy at least. Ran out of light quick once that storm hit us last night. I'm pleased with the carpet so far, but its not an easy job. The glue bonds so quick once the carpet is laid on the panels. You don't have much time to work out wrinkles. Then its constant massage with a block of wood to keep it flat until the glue cures. Looks great, but a lot of follow up work once the carpets on. Looking forward to some fishing soon!!! |
Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Too much rain for you and too much heat for me. lol Boat looks good. :chevy:

Couple of projects wrapped up over the July 4th / B-day weekend. Also had a great bbq/ get together. Had 5 forum members there and 6 trucks. Waiting on pics from my neighbor who is a photographer.
Finished install on the hood harness. Got the truck cleaned up. Finished the carpet on the boat and got it registered. Just need to replace the water pump and it'll be ready for the water. And got the trailer parts pulled out and mocked up so I can see what I have and what I'll need. I have all the crossmembers and tail lights, so just looks like whatever I pick for flooring, paint and some new hardware and we should be in business. |

And a few pics of the trailer bed....
The bed is off of old member Sharp40s Ol Johnny Lee which was wrecked due to a front end t-bone. I was able to salvage the bed and hood the rest was pretty bad off. The forward bed panel was shot.....this one is covered in surface rust but solid. The tailgate also didn't come with the bed....was picked up from Perro out in CA....real nice solid tailgate. (it may end up on the stepside and that tailgate on this project before I'm done with it.) Worst damage is in pic 4....nice dent in the fender. Rest will work great for a matching trailer. |
Re: 1963 C-10 in NC
Gonna be a sweet trailer...:metal:
Great job on the boat too, been watching on fb...:mm: |
