For those that don't know I'm cleaning out most of my extra stuff. I can't stand this crap cluttering up the place. Go to the link in my signature. I'm not really interested in shipping but if it is manageable and you pay the shipping I'll send it out. I don't want to ship anything like a grill etc. A couple pieces are spoken for. The frame, engine, cab and blue doors are not free. |

Not much to share as far as progress, but here is a tip. I used tape since the paint is new to make alignment marks so I can referrence where I started. Also with the tape if you need to erase your line for what ever reason just pull it up and move it. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/DSC01289.jpg |
Re: My 1965 build thread
So how much do you want for the headers now?
|
Re: My 1965 build thread
You do really nice work and I love the color. I need you to work on my '63.

Working on the 55 a little to see if I can get it going. Sold a few things on ebay to get up some cash, now the problem is what do I get. I think the inner repair panels for the bed and front bed panel. Also thinking about getting SS brake lines so I can finish up the brakes. It took about a month off and on of selling stuff to come up with $400 just to go blow it in a view minutes.:sumo: This rolled thru my work a couple days ago. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0085.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Photo0084.jpg |

Unless you were going for the SS look you may want to check out the cunifer stuff, I used it and loved it. Just an FYI.

I'm trying to do a double flare on a steel line and here is the outcome, but first I ran a piece of hard line on the 55 from the fuel pump to carb and did pretty good making it go where I wanted. I'm practicing on the 55 before I cut loose on the 65. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/DSC01358.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/DSC01359.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01364.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01365.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01366.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01367.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01369.jpg Looks like I have some more practicing to do. I deburred the inside and chamfered the inside and outside. This was my second attempt. Maybe 3rd times a charm. The flare on the left is store bought if you couldn't tell. :haha: http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01370.jpg |

Re: My 1965 build thread
microscopic camera??

Re: My 1965 build thread
Love the pics. Electron. You know you can buy that stuff in different lenghts at the store flared on both ends. That would'nt be as fun though.;) You would think with all the sanding you do you would'nt have finger prints.

Almost got the double flare figured out. Got the 55 gas line done, but it didn't turn out as good as my 3rd pratice (Pic). |
Re: My 1965 build thread
Good job Alan........Practice makes perfect !!!!!!!!!!

Re: My 1965 build thread
Your double flares look good Alan after only 3 tries! It does help to put just a drop of oil on the point where the anvil goes into the tube, I know they you aren't supposed to put stuff in the line but just a little lubrication goes a long way towards reducing friction and getting the material to not "prefer" one side over the other, especially with SS it can have some soft and hard spots.

Re: My 1965 build thread
i stick the end out about the hight of two pennies

:smoke: Don't let them make fun of your expertise with the scanning electron microscope photographs, Alan. They're just jealous. I've seen some articles in various car magazines on this art of tubing and it is a skill I'd like to obtain one day. Looks like you're well on your way.

Laid the inner bedside patches on the bedside to see what they look like. I love Mar-K products. Very good quality. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01379.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01380.jpg The only thing I noticed was there is one square hole missing on the short patch in the middle and 2 missing on the long patch. The one in the corner of the long one might need to be there. I don't know if it's the way they make all of them or did this set get missed. What do ya'll think? http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01381.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01382.jpg |
Re: My 1965 build thread
I would imagine it just got missed because that is where it bolts to the cross-sills giving the side the needed support. Thanks for the good pictures, I know where I am getting my patch panels from!
Your bedsides look flawless!! awesome job |

Here is the reply from Mar-K. if any of you have these measurements he is talking about forward them to me. That way I can do a comparision between several trucks and not just one. I wouldn't want to send bad info to him. Thanks -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Quote:

Re: My 1965 build thread
Alan, I just finished reading your ENTIRE build thread! My daughter was born 10 days ago, and she likes to be awake between 3am and 5am, so I've been holding her with a laptop next to me, reading this thread. (She's in my lap right now.) Thanks for providing such good info and taking pics! I've learned a lot.
But now I'll have to find something else to read. Unless you can provide two hours worth of updates every day? Is that enough motivation for you? |
