Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
That does look good - well done! I may steal some ideas for my truck.

It should look better once, I hit it with a 3M pad and flat clear it. Marc |
Re: 53 Surburban "Family Truckster"
yeah so many guys faux it and really faux it up. its like they never saw how the wind sandblasts a truck in a field or the sun bakes the paint over 70 years. it just looks like a holstein cow with blotches... moooOOOOoOooOooo
yours looks exactly right, probably from all the research you did. nice job! |

While I wait on my buddy to finalize my exhaust system I decided to continue to work on the various body panels to distress the paint to over all match. I worked on the hood. I also went over the body with a 3M scotchbrite pad to soften the patina and make it more realistic to actual Patina. I think this is the key. It requires a bunch of elbow grease but to me the result is more realistic patina.
The hood pics are from before to after. I will need to go over the hood with a scotchbrite pad tho. |

The before picture with the bright orange rear splash pan. The after pic. This after pic was prior to hitting it with the scotchbrite bad. The overall look is much more subtle now. Marc |
