Thanks for providing such good info and taking pics! I've learned a lot.

But now I'll have to find something else to read. Unless you can provide two hours worth of updates every day? Is that enough motivation for you?

That's gonna be hard to keep you entertained 2 hrs everynight. Not much going on here. Just tinkering a little. Thanks for the motivation. I need to get something going again.

Here are the deminsions on my bedside. I'm curious if everyone has these holes I marked. I'm going to forward this to Mar-K

I'll try the oil the next time. My flare tool says it's for copper, aluminum, and steel. I guess it won't do SS. I think I remember that SS requires a different flare tool. Thanks for the advice.

Yes alan, you are correct. the SS requires a 33deg flare while all others are a 45deg flare. there are separate flare tools for ss and standard. Hope this helps.

Thanks Tommy, I haven't heard of a 33 degree, but have heard of a 37. Are there 3 different angles?

you are correct again! Im sorry, I thought 33 but I guess it is 37. I have seen SS flaired to 45deg and seal, but I am not sure how much I would trust it, exp on a brake system.

The 45* inverted flare is what is typical on factory brake and fuel lines on the non-metric vehicles. The 37* flare is used with AN (JIC) style fittings.

hmm ribbes caraige bolts
i wonder if they work any better

Re: My 1965 build thread

I have used them before in other wood applications and they work really well but they are unforgiving in over tightening. The ribbed portion will strip without much warning that you are going too far. Just make sure you drill the hole the correct diameter and if there is a little too much room I have put waterproof wood glue on the ribs so that it fills in the cracks of the wood nicely for better grip. Of course that was in a place were I knew I would never need to take them lose again. Can't wait to see your pictures!

Not much to report, but do have a question. Is it possible to rename a thread. I didn't do a search, but did look on the user CP. I'll go do a search now. I want to rename it to "Project Vitamin C-10".

FYI, I have disassembled several 4-5-6 Chevy truck beds and several of them used the ribbed carriage-head bolts at the wear strips. Many times, the ribbed carriage-heads had to be beat out of the wear strip, to remove them.

Isn't is nice when a vendor/supplier is a part of the solution and not part of the problem? Mar-K has gotten my business in the past and they will continue to get it in the future.

:haha: I wanted to change the name because there are several builds that the titles are really very similar. When I joined this forum I had no idea that I would still be here posting. (Love this place) It was time for a change since the truck has a name now. ;)

Allan, have you considered useing SS compression fittings rather than flare fittings?. They aren't cheap (and they are a bit more bulky) but they are WAY easier to work with if you want the lines to follow an exact path IMO. They are also more reliable. Here's a pic of a fuel delivery I made up for my intake with 3/8"SS and compression fittings. The little entry pipe is a temp. I will be making a complete hard line to the pump once it's all installed.

No I have not considered that option. You did a great job on your lines. :metal:

It's a shame I had to haul these parts off. I can't believe I couldn't even give them away.
