As for the Jetta on a 4x4. It's funny you said that because I'm swapping that TDI into my Jeep next winter. |

Well rear dually rims are painted to match the front and my son and I put them on.
Whoever thought of the playing cards around the rim for painting need a pat on the back. OOOHHHH YYAA that it what the truck needed!!!!!:metal: Then I put the truck on the hoist for the first time. Aired out it rests nicely on the hoist. Attachment 1765025 Attachment 1765027 Attachment 1765028 |

So I have been working on improving the cooling of the motor over the past year. It never overheats just runs hotter than I like on the highway, due to the inter cooler blocking half the rad. I had made big improvements by blocking off gaps around the rad. So this round I cut out 4, 3" holes through the front cross member and sleeved them with pipe. Also cut down the angle iron that holds the bottom of the inter cooler. I figure I just gained 3" of unrestricted air to the rad.
Old pic New pic. Just has to be painted and front trans cooler bolted up. Attachment 1766123 Attachment 1766114 |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
can you reposition that trans cooler to the frame side and direct air across it so it doesn't add heat and take away flow to the rad? some of the modern trucks have them behind the trans, in front of the axle
could you install some air directors in the holes you just made to direct air flow to the rad fins? how about just reshaping the whole cross member to still support the weight and stress but not be in the flow path? |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Looks awesome Bob. Man that’s one sweet looking ride.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
What do you have for a fan shroud? Maybe some vents in it covered with rubber or plastic flaps that open with air flow while driving down the road?
Alot of newer cars have flaps of somesort to increase flow |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
So when will you test drive it to see the results

So another thing on the list was respraying the rear fenders due to the clear coat flaking off. I took off the fenders and scuffed them and flat cleared. Turned out good.

OH WOW the truck works better than ever!!!!!!
There obviously was a problem with my old hydro-boost because first time I hit the brake peddle I almost locked up the brakes and through my dog on the floor lol. The new front rubber having a taller side wall rides so smooth. My son and I took it out to an abandon building I have been eyeing up and got some pictures. Oh and did a few burnouts just to make sure. Attachment 1769018 Attachment 1769019 Attachment 1769020 Attachment 1769021 |

Something fun. I finally got my cross walk sign working. Bought a flipping relay circuit board off Ebay. I have it switching every 30 sec.

A week ago we went on a garage crawl. Started with breakfast and then at our leisure we checked out some of the hotrod shops around town. It was really great, almost all had a GM truck. I never knew there where that many hot rod shops close to me.

Most of the shops are family run. The first pic shows a really cool fixture to figure out wheel size and spacing.

Re: My 52 GMC Build
thats a great idea. I have one but it just lights up

Re: My 52 GMC Build
I love the walk don't walk, that is cool. A drink don't drink light would be cool too.
Is the Camaro SS at Lowdown in Cambridge? They have a super low ceiling there... |
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Looking closer, I see the rail dragster is obviously at Lowdown, where else did you go? We also have Hitman here in Cambridge.
|
Re: My 52 GMC Build
Cool light sign. Man, you have a lot of cool stuff being built near you. That bomb is pretty cool too. That limo VW looks like it took 3 or 4 of them to build it. It might need a real engine now though.
