Re: Ratchet's Blazer - 1970 2wd with Original paint
Any more thoughts on the sliding ragtop??? I had something get dropped in the center of mine, so it looks like a ragtop is definitely in my future. :metal:

I defiantly want to do it, especially since they don't make a white softopper anymore. I just hadn't gotten to that yet. I'm still at the engine and drive train stage, and trying to get ready for the Power Tour.

The Blazer is now an automatic, 700-R4 to be exact. I found another high hump that had the hole on the flat part of the hump and moved the hole back to center the shifter in the hole while it is in park so that the boot looks good. I have the kit to be able to put the original 4-speed knob on the Lokar shifter and am leaving the clutch pedal, but locking out the linkage so it will maintain the 4-speed look. The 1st pic is in Park, the 2nd pic is in OverDrive.

That will mess some people up if they try to steal it. They won't know what to do with a clutch and no indicator of what gears to put it into.

I'll bet in the first week of driving it you'll push the clutch in at stop signs/lights.

Love this Blazer. Do you go to Pate every year? I was there this last time and heard that this year was the largest ever and might have become the nation's largest swap meet.

Little updated pic of the interior. This past weekend I was able to swap to the freshly rebuilt Q-Jet that I got from Pate, and get most of the weatherstripping replaced on the top. It still leaks in the rain, but not nearly as bad. I still need to put in the vinyl floor mat from stockinteriors.com, mount the 4-speed knob, and repaint the console, door panels, and armrests. I also picked up a blue dashpad and Blue Blazer sunvisors at Pate that needs to go in. I have been driving it back and forth to work this week, and I am thinking I need A/C before the Power Tour.

How'd the top do in all the rain today in HRPT?

Re: Ratchet's Blazer - 1970 2wd with Original paint
Steven, would really like to hear some feedback when you install the floor mat. I ve heard bad things about all the mats out there and want to put one in mine....thanks

Jim, it's in and I like it. The only place that didn't fit perfect was on the back side of the high hump, which is hidden by the console anyway. It seems to be of good quality but time will tell how it holds up.

Re: Ratchet's Blazer - 1970 2wd with Original paint
It isn't rubber, it is a poly-vinyl as they called it. I got it from stockinteriors.com, but it is an Auto Custom Carpets product, so if you shop around you may find a better price. I requested samples of all 4 colors that you can get it in to see how the different coors looked against my Blazer, but decided to go with black. I tried to tear or rip the samples and it is some pretty tough stuff and is about 1/8" thick, but still cuts easily so that you can trim it to fit.

Made it home today around noon from the Hot Rod Power Tour. It was my first time and we did the Long Haul, about 3,000 miles round trip. The Blazer did fairly well, I burnt up the factory posi clutches and lost a fuel pump, not too bad in my opinion. The factory 3.07 gears paired with the overdrive on the 700-R4 made it get amazingly good gas mileage, but it struggled to maintain speed while climbing hills unless I floored it to get it to downshift. I met a few board members along the way, ran into Courtney Hansen at a restaurant, and have countless stories to tell my buddies that didn't go. My 2 running buddies and I got our pictures posted on TheBlock.com which we thought was pretty cool, plus they were incredible shots. Had countless offers to buy the Blazer, some would have been a pretty good profit, but I just couldn't do it. Here are some of my favorite shots of the Blazer by random people who posted to facebook or instagram, and of course, My Girlfriend and I.;) All in all, I would say we had a B!tchin' time!
