I'm still on the search for more. The one yellow I found was in a dump bin, hence the crappy condition of the card.

If you found the gold one, consider yourself very lucky. That's a Super Treasure Hunt. I'll probably have to resort to eBay to get my hands on one of those. I've got a pair of yellow ones now, so I'm looking for another of the Road Trippin' one.

Treasure Hunts are more limited edition cars that are mixed in with the regular line cars. The Treasure Hunt line began in 1995. For that year, the Hunt cars were limited to 10,000 of each model worldwide. In 1996 they increased it to 25,000. Hunt production numbers haven't been known for sure since then, but they've always been hard to find. In 2007 they began 2 separate Treasure Hunt lines; the regular and Super Treasure Hunts. Through 2011, both the regular and Supers shared the same casting, but the Super cars had Real Rider (rubber) tires and slightly different paint colors. All Treasure Hunt cars used to have a green bar on the package until they did away with the green bar for 2013. Now, regular Treasure Hunts are found by a small circle flame logo on the decorations on the car. It's really hard to find that flame logo. I've only knowingly come across 2 different ones. I just found a pair of Treasure Hunt Ford Fiesta rally cars the other day at Wal-Mart. The Super Treasure Hunts, like the gold Silverado pictured above, are much, much harder to find. When Treasure Hunts began, there was always at least 1 per case of 72 cars. Now, a case isn't guaranteed a Super, though multiple regular Hunts are common. Super Treasure Hunts have Real Rider tires, nicer paint, the "TH" logo and they're generally of much more desirable castings than the regular Treasure Hunts.

Yesterday was a lazy day. I was bored. I have lots of Hot Wheels and cameras laying around, so I played.

So, I finally found me a yellow one today. I was digging through one of Wal-Mart's *%^*^&%!!! dump bins today. I knew it was the right assortment for the yellow Silverado, but I was about to give up and walk away when I saw a yellow tailgate peeking up at me from deep in the bin. I pulled it out and kept digging, but never found anything else.

Also, earlier this week I stumbled across this HW Road Trippin' Silverado. I don't know how I missed that it even existed. Unfortunately, I only found one of it as well, so I'll be looking so I can crack one open.

After viewing this thread last week I found both of these at Target last Friday. Then I found two more at Walmart while shopping for the kids school supplies. I'm going to search for more on my next trip.

So K-Mart's next K-day event is Saturday September 13. There are some exclusive colors for a few models, including this one.

I was just about to post about this. I have a Kmart in two directions about 1/2 hr away. If I can get to one I'll get what I can. They'll be all over Ebay for sure. I really like that Flying Colors issue. Gotta get me one

I don't want to have to resort to eBay, but I also don't really want to have to deal with crazy collectors at the Collector Day. I've heard you can buy Collector Day cases online, so I'm thinking about that route, but then I might not end up with as many trucks as I'd like where I'd have a better chance in the store. I'd like to get 4 (2 for me and 1 each for my boys). I dunno how I'm going to do this one yet.

Re: 73-87 hot wheels and die cast thread

I've never gone to the store on one of these days. It would be a first time experience for me. I don't even go to the grocery store on Black Friday or go for any type of sale where people crowd to the stores. If I go to a circus I want to see dancing elephants :ele:

I checked the local Kmart this weekend and they had only three slides of hot wheels. I was very disappointed. What is the KDAY event?

My nearest K-Mart sucks too. I rarely bother stopping in to look.

The K-Mart Collector Day "K-Day" is held twice a year I believe. I've never been to one, but the way I understand it is that you show up and they give you a number. When they call your number, they give you an unopened case of cars packed specifically for the K-Day event. You get to open the case and pick out all the cars you want from it. If they don't call your number, you wait until the case selection is over to dig through the leftovers.

There are always a few cars with colors specific to the K-Day events along with a few other cars that are first to market on K-Day. It's also the beginning of a promotion to send in for an exclusive car.

This is the info on the September 13 collector day:

Thanks for the info! I would love to get my hands on the green Chevy and the Monte Carlo. I used to drive a black 86 SS myself. I'll check out the local store that day.

If you don't want to bother with the crowds, you might check later that day after everyone has left from the event and you might find some of the cars. I know a couple years ago I stopped by my store a couple weeks after a K-Day and was able to find a few of the K-Day exclusives I wanted just hanging on the pegs. The Silverado is a popular casting, though, so I wouldn't really expect any to be left behind by the K-Day collectors.

I went over to the Target down the street from work yesterday to get a Hot Wheels loop track for my kids and found this. I did not have a tow vehicle so I got it.
