Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Yea, it seems like everything is coming together slowly, and more nickle and dimes than I got to give. Im just waiting for the day I can sit in the driver seat and let it all pay off. Maybe in the next few weeks. Wish me luck!

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
hey that day will come man, it will seem as it will never come sometimes, but it will. Then if you are even more lucky, you won't be ironing out a bunch of stuff on the shakedown. I hate the nickel and dime stuff, it gets overwhelming. Even if you make a checklist I don't like to look at them, when you look back you'll be like wow that was alot of work, lotta little things. But you'll have something to show for it, something fun to drive and something that will make alot of people want one. I wish us all good luck and weather. We are fortunate to have what we do have, even if its a crappy tool or a leaky garage (or a garage at all) or even a project to work on.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Got my old tag restored and registered, even got insurance.
Makes it seem even closer. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82...309_200159.jpg |
Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Video of the truck running a lot better.
http://youtu.be/z9wXim0-WFI once I get the exhaust on it should run a lot smoother, no back fires. Then got the radiator support made and mocked everything up. lower radiator hose is only like 4 inches long http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82...501_215342.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82...501_215352.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82...501_221114.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a82...501_215655.jpg |

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Right on! Looks good. Like the chrome MC and booster. What are the specs on it and how did you determine what one to pick?
Cheers! |
Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Its just an ebay one. Just got one that bolts to an s10 since i was using an s10 interior brake pedal.
|
Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Thanks! I thought there would be a bit more involved in picking one.
|
Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Most brake systems are the same as far as boosters and master cylinder. I had to make the plunger that goes from the pedal to the booster tho.

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Had a couple seat backs.... Took the truck on its maiden voyage and it started blowing oil out the exhaust. I think its just the valve seals, but haven't gotten to swap them all out yet. It only does it when you first start it, a little smoke, then once you would think a good bit of oil has gotten to the valves. i think my motor may be a little more than 3 degrees tilt which makes the oil gather around the cyl. that is dumping oil. I did a compression test and its not the rings. Taillights wont work either, I think the ones I bought are defective. Hope to have it rolling soon enough tho. Been a real bummerhere that past few weeks.... Keep on keepin on

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
The water neck is off ebay. Just searched straight ls1 water neck. Intake is painted with engone paint. I think any paint will work. I bought it already painted. I sent my harness to lsx-harness.com. i sent them the right connectors too but i think they will supply them. Radiator i got from speedwaymotors.com. it was on sale in the yardsale. I had to put my fan on the front to push. Not sure its gonna be enough airflow tho. Motor seemed to still get too hot. Well see once i drive it

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Bad ass man, you can't go wrong with an LS swap, it's amazing how much it transforms the truck!
|
Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
Oh yea. Im definantly stoked with it so far. Just need to keep the kinks ironed out and then it will be golden. Everyday it seems i get one more small issue fixed but find 5 more haha. Only takes time. Thanks for all the support so far guys!

Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
hell yeah you been on it. interior is looking good as is the whole truck. So what you figure out with oil blowing out the exhaust? Engine running good?
congrats |
Re: You guessed it, 1950 s10 swap.
I had the pcv system all screwed up. I was putting way too much vaccum on the heads and i guess it was forcing oil into the cylinders. I changed the valve stem seals and it got a lot better. Only did it under high rpm after that. I took vaccum completely off the heads all together and vented both sides and it started running great with no smoke. Put the exhaust on and it stopped running rich. Finally got all the air out of the power steering system. Had a scare last night tho. I pulled my radiator cap and there was black sludge at the top. I immediately thought head gasket was screwed. Isnt running hot tho. I let it settle and went back out there it was just on the top. Im just guessing it was leftover dexcool that was in the block that i didnt get all the way out. It does that when it mixes with green coolant. Getting an alignment today hopefully and ill be good!
