Re: It's Begun...
Have you gotten any time to work on it through these last few days?

Got the head board ready for color, doing that today. Gonna paint the tail gate handle and glove box door hopefully too. The short term goal is to get the bed totally finished on the inside, still need to do the bed floor and the inside of the quarters but once that's done I can assemble the bed or at least put it on the frame outside so it's outta the shop area. Currently pulling alot of boxes off my shelves here at the house looking for whatever parts that can go up to the shop and get installed on the truck. (tail gate parts, door mechanisms, dash cluster...etc.) |
Re: It's Begun...
That sounds good. They're all steps in the right direction.
I can't even imagine being to the point of painting parts...someday. |
Decent Day

Reached the goal for the day, not a huge one but a few more things to check off the list.
Head board, glove box and tail gate handle all painted/cleared today. Glove box hadn't been touched since it came out of the truck, had to sand, primer and paint all today. Got it all done in about 4.5 hours. |
Re: It's Begun...
That looks sweet! We have the same plans today, Color!! I just layed down the first coat on Low Buck's cab and will head out in another 25min to lay down the second coat! My glove box door has not been started yet so it wil wait for the fender, hood and door paint day. I know my plans for next weekend;)

Re: It's Begun...
It seems to always to work out that way.
I was going to scuff my frame and spray it with cans and now I'm talking about sand blasting the frame and...:blah: Is this a sickness that we all share? |

More baby steps...
Finished the inside of the glove box door, cleared the inside of both cab doors and finally have the bed floor on the saw horses so it's next in line for paint/clear. The thing about the bed floor as you guys know is it's physical size, it's been leaning up against the front bench for two years now, so moving it outta the way makes a ton more room in the shop and to me, that's good progress. Along the lines of cleaning up the shop, I moved all the painted parts out into the back storage area for safe keeping. With any luck, the cab will be coming in soon for paint. Not much for pics this round, just one. |
Re: It's Begun...

Re: It's Begun...
Kurt,
What sort of timeframe have you set for competing this one?.....mid-summer? Fall? I'm only asking because your expertise could be put to good use on my own little "labor of love" once I get this cab down to bare metal. http://www.norcalbigdawgs.net/Galler...4/DSC00268.jpg |
Re: It's Begun...
We can make room and get yours worked on, just let me know when.

Re: It's Begun...
Nice project!
I love K series trucks. |
Re: It's Begun...
VT are you going to re-assemble the bed, seam seal, and then paint it, or are you going to paint the parts separately and then reassemble? I was wondering because if you paint the parts before reassembly, how will you seam seal? When I redo my truck I need to take my bed apart, so I was wondering how you were going to finish yours. I'm enjoying watching your build. That is going to be one sweet looking truck when it's done. ...Joe
