For a second I thought you were talking about your noggin

Just got through reading this thread - what a great time you had - glad it went so trouble free! Burg looks to be really nice - congrats on it and the great voyage.

Andy, I only paid $3.00 for my cooler...so HA! You know, you could have applied those stickers after you stole it though!! Maybe you came through here after all, and didn't tell me!! (I wish you would have stolen the 68 instead).

BTW, Chuck Taylors rock!

I'd love to have a 68 short step to add to the fleet... I'll trade you a real cool cooler, and a slightly worn pair of chuck taylors!

2800 or so miles gas was somewhere around 500 - 600 bucks IIRC.

What size shoe do you wear Andy? I'm a 13 wide. Although I do have two pairs of Converse shoes that are 13Rs that fit fine...so I went ahead and ordered a pair of Chucks last night :D Almost ordered a set of custom ones off their site, but they were too spendy.

That is so cool.

I can't see myself ever pulling something like that off not unless I had all of those guys from the Verizon comercials following me.

How much did you know about the Burb before you made the decision to drive it home?
I can probably answer that myself;
"it starts, moves forward under it's own power and is only 3000 miles from my drivway? dude I'm on my way!!!

:metal:

Re: pics from my trip

well, another board member did go and look it over, and verified that it was a decent truck... CG did send me about 15 hi-res photos that i scrutinized very carefully, plus he and I spoke about it a few times on the phone.
In all reality, I didn't have enough info to do something like this... but I went over it a little before leaving, and I got a good vibe. I did have a somewhat of a back up plan to get home without the burb... but I had every intention of buying it.
CG was kinda nervouse about the trip... I think more so than I was. But, as we all know, it all ended up good in the end. He's happy, I'm real happy, and everyone had a good time.
Plus now i have a sweet ass burb. ;)

Re: pics from my trip

I guess the main thing is you went into it with the right attitude.

I can't really say much since I drove from Dallas to Northern Va (DC area) in a 91 Mercedes 560sel that I had for less than 6 mos, and 5 of those it was broke down because the crank pulley and balancer fell of the engine.
The balancer actually split at the grove for the woodruff key and spun on the crank until it worked it's way off the crank. BIG FUN!

The biggest thing I was worried about was I never knew what caused it to do that.

Seeing your pic and everything I wish I would of taken more pictures, but at the same time I did the iron man thing and drove straight through, stopping for gas, a red bull and and water.

yep... you gotta live a little once in a while.
Some would call this stupid
Some would say it's nothing at all.
Some say ballsey.

I say a combination of the first and the third.

Some (Me) would say thanks for going on this adventure, You allowed me to go on a adveture with out leaving My computer. More importantly by you doing this adventure I dont have the itch quite as bad to by a car or truck off of ebay or craigslist or here and drive it cross country. The wife and I both thank you Andy.
