I steered away briefly to take care of some yard projects, but I'm back on the truck. I'll update some more pics shortly. I've got the back half of the frame ready for paint and will work on it tonight. I need to pull the rearend out of my other truck and get it installed once I clean it up and finish cleaning and painting the trailing arms.

I'm open for some advice however on the fuel tank. I have a 12 gallon S-10 tank from a truck and Brad brought me a 25 gallon tank that Livrat graciously gave me also. Both tanks are in great shape and I've cleaned them up real good already, but I'm trying to decide on which one to use. The 12 gallon tank will set in between the rails with room to spare, and the 25 gallon tank would need the rear crossmember removed. I'm leaning toward the 12 gallon, but not sure if having to fill it more often would be worth it. However, the $100 to fill the 25 gallon might be even more painful..

Any opinions??

you don't have to fill it all the way up every time but you will need a larger tank on longer trips (think Texas, 100 miles between gas stations) I'd go for the 25 gallon

What vehicle is the 25gallon tank from? You may have answered this already but, do you plan on a side fill or floor fill?

It's out of a Suburban. I'm thinking of a floor fill, but haven't really decided yet. The side marker lights have been shaved otherwise I would like put the filler behind the light.

Travis, With a thirsty V8, I say go with the 25 gallon. Did you buy a steel cowl hood yet?

I didn't get as much done today as I hoped, but I did get my gas tank in.

This is the tank I got from Livrat. It wasn't too bad inside and looked perfect after I cleaned it out. I cut and re-welded the filler neck to come straight up for the filler in the bed.

I then removed the rear crossmember and the spare tire mount and then trimmed the crooked crossmember. I don't know if it was necessary or not, but I welded in a thick pc of steel where I trimmed the crossmember for added strength.

I've also got my old truck out and the bed off. I'm either going to use that 3:08 or hopefully find a 3:73. These trailing arms are nicer so I'll be using them, and I still need to remove the sway bar brackets from this frame yet.

I had a little time to work on the truck this weekend. I pulled the rearend with springs and trailing arms from the old truck and got them cleaned and painted and ready to go in the new truck.

Brad, I'm going to run the 3:08 rear for now and then switch over to the 3:73 after I get it all fixed up. Right now I'm mainly focused on getting this back on the road..

I'd better give an update before y'all quit believing in me.. :)

I've got the bodywork on the cab and fenders taken care of and once the doors and hood are ready, I'll give them all a good coat of primer. I've also been buttoning up a lot of the tedious stuff on the frame and motor. I apologize that I don't have any pics to upload right now, but I'll get some on here soon.

Hey Brad, welcome back! Yeah, I painted it yesterday morning. You could have watched the paint dry with me..

To keep this within my budget, I'm just using Omni single stage acrylic enamel in the original color.
