Re: 1972 Blazer 5.3 E85/ NV4500 5spd 4x4 Build
Nice looking build! Just read through it all - pretty impressive stuff. I'm local too (Castro Valley) and am looking for a good media blaster. What was the company called in Livermore that did your frame?
I like the wheels too - bought the same set a couple weeks ago :lol: ...while reading through your thread I thought "Wait a minute...he's got the same wheels I do!" Great minds thing alike ;) Anyways, hope to see you around the east bay sometime. |
Re: 1972 Blazer 5.3 E85/ NV4500 5spd 4x4 Build

So once i found the year discrepancy out, i was able to diagnose the problem more specifically. The crazy part is that one day after a good long charge and a trouble code clearing, all problems went away and everything started working perfectly:metal: Quote:

I just saw your build thread the other day and when i saw the wheels i had to double take- the same wheels, on the same truck, from the same model year, being built at the same time, probably 10 miles away from eachother? Trying to show when Pleasanton rolls around or what?:lol: |
Re: 1972 Blazer 5.3 E85/ NV4500 5spd 4x4 Build
Do those front seats fold forward?

Do you have any pictures as to how you mounted the rear seats? Did you use the stock brackets?

[QUOTE=72truckman;3406082]Havent updated in foreverrrr....
Engine mounts http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...DSCN7557-1.jpg Hi Truckman, I wanted to thank you for putting alot of pics and info online as I am doing the same build for a 72' GMC Jimmy 4x4 but came across a challenge that you seem to have already conquered regarding the motor mounts.. As I was procuring parts last year and following others advice along the way, I purchased a set of CPP LS1 conversion brackets as shown here.. http://www.classicperform.com/Store/...cks/CPLS1K.htm However, after closer inspection there is no way to attach them to the frame as there are no mounts on the frame side. IN THE pic you have some kind of bracket coming off of the frame and I was just curious to know where you may have found it or did you make it..? I have seen several different setups in the last 24 hours as I have been frantically trying to find the best solution as we just discovered this yesterday when my mechanic friend came by to assess what needed to be done... I also noticed CPP also carries a conversion bar that runs from side to side and some weld-on brackets like those that you have but which is the best for our 4x4's since we sometimes drive quite differently than street driven rides. That conversion bar looks like it might get caught on something. (Edited: Found out the conversion bar they sell and everything else is only for 2WD only - though not really outlined).. Also, my 2nd request is where did you get your gas tank from that had the in-tank pump already in it..? I have seen several different ones but anything custom made seems to be over $500 dollars and out of my range right now… Nice choice on the Champion Rad as I picked one up last month from their headquarters here in C.M. BTW, Do you remember which hoses you bought that fit..? Thanks in advance.. -A.J. |

The brackets that mount in the frame are actually what i had left over from a DIY4X crossmember, but are simply a piece of channel about 5 inches long (something you can buy from any steel yard). I decided that with the block being built from the factory as a structural piece, i would use it as one. It really gives my front axle a lot of room and full access to the oil pan. As far as the gas tank goes, its not a bolt in kit... I bought an in tank pump from Tanks Co., a 1981 tank and sending unit from Rock Auto, cut a big hole in a brand new tank, and ended up with a very nice piece (though not an easy job to say the least) The hoses are from a 2006 Chevy Silverado. The top hose fits perfectly.. The bottom hose is from the same year truck, and its a tight fir, ill probably swap it out. That aluminum radiator is badass, its the first one ive ever used and all that ill be using in the future.. GOOD LUCK! |

Its getting close when final bodywork is happening
http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...7/DSCN0157.jpg Started building lockable storage boxes http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...7/DSCN0167.jpg Lost a good truck last week. It was my dads bought brand new in 1995. Put 225000 miles on it before the tranny blew. it died gracefully as a parts car for my 1999 suburban. RIP 1995 GMC Yukon :lol: http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e2...7/DSCN0056.jpg |

You plan on putting and speakers inside those storage boxes? |
