Great thread, although I am on the opposite end of the state, I am willing to help out if a team gets together from the board.

Well, I think we should see about her house, before the trucks. That picture tells us allot.

I would pony up $ and parts. Get the trucks for sale running, get her into a house then fix the keeper truck.

Howdy all,

I found this thread off of another Chevy board and just really want to commend you all for reaching out. The attitude here has actually made me go and sign up on this site as well. lol

If it does come down to folks here donating and doing the work, count me in. I am not close enough to do any of the work, but I can swing a little cash to help out. Just keep us informed!

Dawn's trucks, engines & lots of parts is listed here in the trucks for sale section. Since I'm basically a 60-66 guy, can you guys take a look at the pictures if you haven't seen them on ebay and let Dawn know what you think everything is worth? There's just the max 6 pics here, but in the "reply" section, second one down in the ad, I put a link to a slide show of pics I copied off the ebay auction. Here's the note Dawn just sent....

Dear Bill:
Hi. I just got another email from someone interested in my trucks and he asked if I had a number he could call to reach me. Well duhh, that's when I realized that I don't think I ever gave you my number so you could put it in the add you posted for me. I'm sorry about that. I guess I wasn't thinking. Also, on ebay, I placed a reserve of $3,000.00 for the trucks and parts because that's the amount I found myself needing for the project I'm working on. I was hoping for a total of $3,500.00 so I could build a ramp on my place, but, good news. I think I found enough materials already to cover that in the shed yesterday, so if you think it would be better to list a price in the ad, you can put $3,000.00. I know there will be expense involved for anyone that buys my trucks and I want to give a fair price. Do you think that's fair? Maybe you could run it past the forum members and if it's too much, you can list the amount you all think it should be. Thanks again for all your help.
Dawn

that price seems very fair since most people around the rust belt will sell one truck for 3,000.00 and you get multiple trucks and many many parts...

Why dont we collectively buy it and build it on donations and stuff? We now have enough TN members to help make the physical part happen...?

Since I'm all the way across the country I can't help physically but I'm definitely in for donations/money for parts. Just let me know.

Dear Bill:
Hey. Becky and I have been checkin for emails everyday and no-one has written. We were wantin to write yall but didnt want to bother anyone so I was glad to see you sent mom a message today so I could check-in with you. We hope everyones ok. The thing is that were kinda worried about mom cause shes been real depressed . Yesterday mornin she asked if I would come over & spend the night with my grandma so she could get a room in Pigeon Forge to be alone for awhile and I said sure but my brother in law called me and said he saw her truck at the cematary at 5am when he was goin to work this mornin. She talked to me alittle bit when she got home and then went to lay down. If she checks her messages this afternoon she might tell you whats botherin her but basicly shes upset at herself cause the calls and emails shes gettin about her trucks are from people wantin prices on the 68 step side and for stuff like tailgates and bracketts and grills and she dont know what to say. Do yall know of any catalogs or books anywhere we could get her that lists parts and such? We were thinkin she could maybe ask for 1/3 or 1/2 of the catalog price. Do you think that would work? If yall can think of anything else please let us know. Well i better get off here cause I hear her comin but take care and thanks.
Tiffany

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

Hey Becky, sorry to hear your mom is taking things hard. I guess that's pretty normal. Probably will take a good while.
As far as parts prices. One of the best online catalogs is: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/t.aspx
They can send you a free paper catalog too. But, until then, use their web catalog. My experience has been that most used parts are about 50% of new. I'm posting this on the forum. Hopefully anyone with any other ideas can jump in.
I put a ad on Craigslist Knoxville and Craigslist Nashville. Keep your fingers crossed.
Bill

Well, I would love to help, but I dont have the time to organize anything anymore unfortunately. If someone who is a mod or runs this board can set something up, I can and will participate, but I don't think I can run this anymore (work and home life stepped up recently)

That would be unreal!
The 67-72 Chevy/GMC Truck Board Project Truck!
Then, after it is done, give it away back to Dawn.

I have been watching this thread, and the admins have been too. I'll chime in on this idea to them, see what they think. It would be a huge undertaking that someone would have to coordinate, but it could be done.

I'm in for that. If enough people are interested, we could ask her about it.

just read the post and i am truly amazed by the character of the members we have on this board. makes me very proud to be a member. i too am part of the not enough free time club but i would be more than willing to part with some monies to help out.

has anyone contacted kevin tetz directly? he is the new host of trucks. i will check out the paintucation videos i have and see if he has a personal site or email we could try emailing him. he sells the videos through eastwood i wonder if they know how to get ahold of him maybe if we got some of the corporations involved they might do something with one of the truck shows in exchange for free air time.
how about david stacy on GEARS it used to air on espn2 now i see him on speed and we all know he has love for the 67-72 trucks he still has copperhead on the set of GEARZ. i know i should do and not think but time is limited these days.
you guys are great.....

Re: Ebay - Chevy truck widower selling their whole lot

I have emailed the Trucks! TV Show but never heard anything back. I will send them another email soon.

I think a get together at Dawn's house is a great idea. From what I gather she lives in East Tennessee. I could see alot of board members within 2-3 hours away making that get together. We had a benefit for a cousin of mine who had cancer, and a bunch of people, businesses, etc donated stuff and we auctioned it off at the benefit. There were maybe 80 people there and we were able to give her and her family almost $14,000 from the auction. Maybe we could do something like this, and if Dawn is up for it she could throw in whatever Trucks or parts she wanted to into the auction.

I know everyone has the best intentions, but I don't know how realistic getting something organized to build her a truck is. It would be so difficult because we are all so far away from each other. It might be better to do something like a benefit auction and let her decide what to do with the money. If she wants to pay someone to build her a truck then Great. If she wants to use it another way then that's great too.

Just my $.02.

Whatever is decided I will help anyway that I can though.
