Ok guys, another minor update. First up: at least it wasn't hot today when I decided to go work on the truck........

If you cant tell......its 110*. I also wanted to put out some general info that I discovered today. I bought power window regulators a couple years ago and I finally decided to scope 'em out. Looks cool and not too difficult at all....but here's what I found. I have the Electric Life kit for 64-66. You must drill to mount the motor assembly and it leaves 3 screws exposed thru the door!!!!. 2 will fall in the lower portion of the door and 1 falls in between the raised area and the door panel. I dont care that much, but I could see some people being very upset with it.

Decided to knock out the front clip with the 'bodymans palm pilot':lol:...used some 180 and went to town. My front clip is in good shape and will take the least amount of work so I just decided to hit it and quit! Need to do the corners, edges and small work but it was nice to get the majority knocked down in about 2 hours. I'm trying to keep up with shortbed 70:lol:...not really. Put in some more effort on the doors and will be repairing the drivers door soon.

Also got to use the round Durablock as Alan suggested in the 'indent' of the door and it worked nicely. I'll probably go back over that area of the bed before primer gets stuck. Enjoy. (Notice my Craigslist find= 36'' Maxx Air fan)

It gets down to 85 at about 3 am. It was still 99 at 9:45 pm last night.

Back to the power regulators. Thanks for posting that alert on the screws. I am going to put in power windows too, so would appreciate any feedback on that kit, as well as others you may have looked at.

Since you are doing the body work now, I would WELD IN the screws, so that you end up with "studs" on the inside of the door! grind the outside smooth and proceed on with your filler, primer, and blocking.

Only 104 degrees :devil:here this week, load up the trailer and come to Texas!! LOL.

Looking good, don't rush the prep. 100% of a good finish is the prep.

Thanx Heater63.....I thought of welding in something, BUT.....I've already painted the interior:(......my thoughts are that the mounting is basically a triangle shape so it should be stable with only the 2 lowest screws. I will cover them with a speaker pod/contraption yet to be conceived. I dont like to second guess the manufacturer, but hey, it wouldnt be a hotrod if it was stock!!!:lol:

The biggest problem with welding in the screws is that I dont know how I would rotate the entire power window assembly inside the door to tighten them:lol:. If you put studs on them, then you end up with nuts on the door.

This may be hard to visualize....I will post more pics of them when I get time.

Thanx for the inquiry....you're pretty much right on. I was laid off for nearly 6 mos and that is when I started the work out of boredom as I stated in the beginning. It was kinda a reverse psychology type thing; I knew if I started doing something that I really wanted to do, I would get a job......and sure as sh!t I got a job. I work for a solar electric company installing grid-tied photovoltaic systems. We start at 4:30am and its HOT:devil:....sometimes I cant even eat dinner Ive been cooked so bad during the day. I dont have a lot of energy left for the truck lately. This is the worst couple of months in the Valley IMO and I probably wont resume anything major until temps moderate a bit. I have some neat stuff and changes coming up and I will post up when I get going on them.

Hope everybody else keeps on truckin' before winter; I'm waiting for winter to get something done.:lol:

Well congrats on the new job and I understand about the heat thats why I haven't done anything with mine in two weeks but today I got board and primed the whole cab hopefully for the last time.

The truck looks good. That palm sander may get you into trouble for body work though...lol

A palm sander is not recommended for body work as it leaves little circles everywhere;:agree: I used 180g paper just to knock the high build down and I will be covering it in another layer of high build. I know its not good but its the only power tool I have for sanding, not enough air capacity for a line sander at my house. It did a good job for what I needed done as I kept it moving and there is not any serious stuff to do on the front clip. If I spray on the primer as thick as the last batch, nothing will ever be seen:lol:.
