Re: 1979 Chevy build

no i decided those are going to have to wait. The reason being because if i put the 10 inch rims on with the tires i have the tire sidewall will be flatter than the tires on the 8 inch rims. So in order to put the 10 inch ones on i will need to get two new tires so the sidewall looks the same all the way around. My dad might land up using them on his 68 too though. It really doesn't matter they were such i good deal that i couldn't pass up. I have one more video to put up as soon as i record it tonight so you can see a few things i did with the lighting. Im starting to toss up ideas to bag it also but we will see what happens if i do land up bagging it the truck is getting torn down again to paint the frame and do a few things different just an idea for now, like i say your really never done building a project there's always room for improvement.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

damn captkaos is the ****!! i talked to him monday and he had the kick panels with him the next evening they were at my door step thanks man good guy to deal with. So i got my kick panels for my truck. They are nice and a good price. So today i cut the holes for the speakers and mocked up the speakers in them. I wont be putting them in the truck just yet because im getting the interior done and these will be getting covered also. Here are some pictures of the kick panels and of my good old bedroom workshop, Apartment living got to love it ahaha what ever gets the job done right.

Well all the interior is out of the truck getting recovered. Everything except the seat so i will have pictures soon of it all. Also took out the subwoofer box and i will be covering it and the 6x9 boxes. Cant wait to get my kick panel speakers in there and all wired up still haven't heard them on yet getting anxious.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Well i covered my speaker box today. It came out damn good for doing it myself. I ran out of glue there is just one piece i need to glue on tomorrow then cover up the 6x9 boxes also. The guy covering my door panels will be done with them tomorrow and he will also be done with the kick panels so if all goes good i should have that all in tomorrow after i rewire everything for the deck. Let me know what you think of the box.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

nice build up man.... I'm getting ready to do mine but need a new cab so it's gonna be fun... I was wandering why you kept the 2 barrel carb makes alot of since... I like to get your rim size i like how they fill up the wheel wells... need mainly the back spacing so i know what to look for when i get wheels for mine....... awesome job man

54Caddy 04-19-2010 12:38 AM

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Thanks man. The tires are 255/60/15. I kept the 2 barrel because good old california and smog, it passes no problem at all, i rerouted all the vacuum hoses so it looks a lot cleaner then it used to and i like the fact that its still all numbers matching and runs just fine. And the truck isn't much of a quick 1 i like to cruise and listen to oldies like the good old days when cruising was doing 25 in a 40, not speeding and calling it cruising. I covered my 6x9 boxes today came out nice will have pictures tomorrow. Im going to start rewiring the stereo system tomorrow to accept the kick panel speakers and a few other changes. The interior pieces are all covered up and ready to go just need to find a good day to put them all in.

Re: 1979 Chevy build

Got all my interior pieces in damn the kick panel speakers made one hell of a difference. Also thanks to AceX i have no more rattles he let me us some dynomat xtreme and damn that stuff worked out good. I also changed the door panel trim pieces from the ones that take a pull strap to ones that don't. They look better, i polished them out and cleaned them up. I should have the visors soon then in a month or so the seat. Its coming along nice except i put gas last night and the gauge doesn't move so got to figure that out. Let me know what you think about the interior.
