Always loved this truck... now, it gets even better. And, perfect timing I'm doing much of the same... so thanks! The "budget" can get fubar'd pretty quickly with air and components. I've hand my LCA's cupped by NFAMUS down in Texas = artwork! and finished the static rear... but gotta go step-notch and bags now...!

thanks gang. nothing special about this build. I've really gained a LOT of respect for those guys who fab up their own rear notches and cupped lca's. my next big purchases have to be a plasma and a mig. guess I'll be watching Craigslist now......

As far as the rims go, they fit fine without spacers, I just wanted them sticking out there a bit more. if I go straight stock 6.5" wide steelies, I'll have to run a spacer since I have discs up front.

here's my thoughts...... ditch my front and rear chrome bumpers. go back to bone stock white. then, go white or gray stock steelies with '54 GM sedan caps or chrome bullet lug nuts

Doug, you have one fine truck there, and it is getting better by the day, good job and work there. I say to stay with the 17's but the stock rims with the bullets would be my next choice. Very nicely done.

I might be interested in your chrome bumpers if you do decide to switch.
Too bad your trucks not a 71-72,... I have an NOS painted front bumper for one.

Doug,... I have seen people use "self etching" primer on chrome bumpers,... and then paint them.
I'm not sure how well it holds up,... but I've seen it done.

Another thing to remember with fittings and airline,... is to make sure it's D.O.T. rated for highway use. It's ususally a little more expensive,... but so is losing air at highway speeds!

Doug - Awesome job, looks great! Were you able to use the Monroe shocks without having to relocate the mounts?

yep, I was able to use the 33033's up front. I have about a 1/2" of shock travel left when aired out.

I'll try to post some pics tomorrow, gang. I ran the air line today and secured them. one thing I am being super picky about is when the air line has any chance of rubbing the frame, I am taking 3/8" rubber fuel line and encapsulating the air line.

I'll show you what I mean with pics.

now, back to the design of the underbed hardware cabinent. stealth......

How are you attaching the rubber hose to the line itself? I was wondering if the rubber line would have a chance of "walking".

here's my method of attaching the air line. Lowe's has 3/8" zinc plated/rubber lined brackets that work great. $1.40 for two. couple that with some #10 stainless steel metal screws and viola! I put a bracket every 20"-24". In between these brackets, I used a 3" piece of 3/8" rubber fuel line to alleviate any additional chaffing. In the pic below, you see the front air line following the frame and then through the frame at an oblong hole forward of the axle. I also made sure the air line was safe from chaffing through this hole with a piece of split fuel line.
