Thanks Dave :metal:

It's been awhile... A long while...

Have been working a lot and remodeling the house after a water leak in the attic. :waah:

I got a new aluminum radiator for fathers day and installed it last week. I'll post pics and details this weekend. I'm also cleaning up my M/T valve covers and will install them this weekend. They look killer  IMO ;)

I'll post more soon :metal:

Those valve covers are timeless.

What's the specifics on that radiator? Who made it, how much, etc...

AZ66GMC 07-10-2011 07:35 PM

Re: My 66 GMC LWB

Hey Shaky, I forgot that part in the post...

I got it from eBay (engineered products) it was $230 shipped

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...#ht_3321wt_948

It was not a direct drop-in. The top and bottom tank are squared off more than the stocker so I had to spread the radiator tabs open more to get it to fit... Other than that, it was a decent fit. It's a two row, but with 1" tubes like the top of the line BeCool and others.

I dropped about 23 degrees in temp with the swap :metal:

So far it's a good swap for me. Time will tell on how long it will last...

Ya, the next one is August 7th. I found a left lower patch panel for the front fender for $5 :metal: Also got me a TCI deep 700r4 tranny pan for $10. There was actually quit a few parts for our trucks there last weekend.

What year truck did that brake booster and master cylinder come off of? How hard was it to install beside getting the mounting bracket?

I got them from the local "pick-n-pull" from a 83 Chevy 4x4. I grabbed the brake lines and proportioning valve along with the pedal rod. I went on a 50% off sale and paid $30 for everything.

It bolted up to the 2 factory M/C holes with out any additional brackets. I drilled out the firewall for the bottom 2 holes on the newer M/C. You can see the top 2 holes were not used (has a total of 6 mounting holes).

I used my original pedal rod and cut/welded it to the new rod which kept the adjustability by retaining the original threaded part.

It took about 4 hours to install it and then a couple more reworking the brake lines.

BIG difference compared to the original single pot M/C... It will put you into the dash if your not wearing the seat belt when you slam on the brakes... Takes some get'n used too...

I installed my rubber bed mat that I got for Xmas. It's for a '73-86 long bed Chevy/GMC. It's not exact, but it covers 99% of the wood ;)

I also filled my dash so that I can install my Vintage Air controls and A/C vents. Since the PO butchered the radio slot, I figured that I might as well cut it all out and fill it solid, then go back and cut out what I need... :waah:

Very clean nice looking patch repair on the dash. Thanks for the info on the brake booster. I went to LKQ this past weekend and they had the 50% off sale going on. I couldnt find a decent looking booster to get. Everything was already about stripped to the bones.

You are far more brave than I. Not sure I am confident enough to cut my dash like that !! Nicely done though.
What are those silver clamps with the wingnuts holding your patch on? I think this is the first time I have seen those....

I just looked at your Sonoma over on CarDomain, very nice there too!
I have an 03 stepside for a daily driver and I love it!

Thanks man! :metal::metal: Sorry you couldn't find anything at LKQ... Those 50% off sales clean them out. I got to our sale first thing and almost had to fight for my parts... two other guys were all over the truck while I took my parts off alone... Was worried about missing tools :sumo:

LOL, thanks man :metal::metal: I've seen your project progress and you are there, just take your time and you can do it all ;)

The clamps are from Eastwood. I got (8) for $17 shipped on their last sale before Xmas. They work awesome :metal: Kindof a pain in the butt to get the first one on by yourself, but once on, they hold well.

You can find them here http://www.eastwood.com/intergrip-pa...-set-of-4.html

I'm working on a photoshop project that I will request everyone's input for my dash layout. Hope to have it done tonight and will post it on the 60-66 main board for your input. :uhmk:

Thanks :metal::metal:
