Im sure you could go with a shorter notch or do some modifying to the one they sell to make it suit your needs. Just throwing ideas out there.

I was thinking about that last night. Having a smaller notch wouldn't really work unless the front was modified also. It's set up to lay on the frame so the front would be on the ground and the rear up in

I'm going to have to tub anyway so I could just box that area across the whole bed. I'd still lose bed, but have some normal height box in the rest of of it.

There is a picture in the thread on the Porterbuilt site that shows the bed and the wheel is flush with the bed side cut out. I really would like the details of the axle from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface and the spec on the wheels.

What kinda primer do you use that doesn't need to be reprimed over again if you go out of the repaint window?

I've been on vacation this week so that means lots of progress on the 58. First off I got the final crossmember from Porterbuilt got it painted and installed, then I took the frame over to the driveshaft shop and had a new driveshaft made. My aluminum fuel cell showed up from Boyd welding so I mounted that up as well. It came with an Aeromotive stealth 340 pump that's inside the tank. Then I was able to get the interior totally bodyworked ,primed, and painted. I did the same as I did on the firewall and used flat clear instead of gloss. After that I started installing Dynamat , mounted the gas pedal, started routing some wiring, and reassembled the dash. I should have the cab and frame mated back together in a couple of weeks. Here's some pics.

Also love the color, but have a question. Isn't the clearance on your driveshaft loop a little tight? What if you hit a bump?

In that pic the rear suspension is all the way down, hince the tight clearance.

Re: Locomotive Lugnut

Is it possible to get a few measurements from the bed?

From the bed to the top of the notch
From the top of notch to the top of the bed
At bed level, from the front of the notch to the front of the bed
Same thing but from rear to rear

I'm pretty much sold on it but I'd like to see if I can build some storage under the bed if it is mounted above the notch. The picture they sent me looks like there is 12" to 18" of bed left. If I have to I'll get some wood sides if I need to haul anything. I can already hear my wife asking why I bought a truck if I can't carry anything in it. Especially if we are moving from Chicago to Arizona next spring.

I'll see what I can come up with for you right now the bed is stacked in my garage with a lot of stuff around it , it may be a week or so before I can dig it out.

No problem, whenever you get a chance. I just want to see if there is some way to recover some of the bed.

It's going to be in the driver side kick panel

Honestly I have no idea what it is off of it was on the truck when I bought it, it worked well so I figured I'd just clean it up ,paint it and keep on keepin on.
