They're 15"....I think the too small tires are throwing them off....I will put some larger tires on before this hits the road...the tires on it have been sitting since 95....not sure how old they actually are but no way I'm driving on them the 30 miles to the shop where I work on the other truck at....

I know....we're outta here if/when the economy improves and I have a good year of tax returns to get approved for a loan...

Gotta have a bigger shop...my whole downstairs is a parts/restoration shop now.

Here are the plates that will go on....had to clean them up a bit so they are both easily readable or they wouldn't let me run them...

Here are the pics of the caps. They have usual dents around the rims and one has a decent dent on the center ridge. I have 5 and will ask $115 plus shipping.

thank you for keeping me in consideration on the bumper i very well will be intrested if I keep gettin skunked on the hunt for one

those plates rock:metal: thats another target on my list but its a shame here in pa we didnt have the stamped #'s in 67 only a cheesy sticker

i hear ya on the cabinet bussinuess damn near every shop around here folded
now its time too hopefully get into something else

Thanks, with me going with the white bumpers I'm thinking white caps now so I will pass.

Yeah, I know a lot who have downsized or gone out of business...and most still in business have cut benefits and put reps on 100% commission.

They are but I'm thinking white now...
Eventually if I find a deal or get some extra funds I will swap to 5 lug and 20's anyways...

Some parts painted....decided to use my original 70 engine and sell the other 350 I've been working on....the 70's engine is a 355 with rebuilt heads, edelbrock performer intake, and under 6k miles....plus I have the tranny and matching torque converter which all work well together.

Plus, I spent a lot of time grinding the casting flash off the block so it will paint up better...with a wuick wipe down it's ready for paint....still going to paint the other one so I can sell that one...

Here are a few parts I painted for it...my 7yr old helped on the fan/clutch :)



I picked up the air cleaner as a blem on ebay for $10 shipped...had to sand it down to get the scratches out of it...has a k&n "style" washable element. I think it looks good in black and will look good with black pulleys...

Note the fan used to be "chrome" and orange....I like this better :)

Not much progress...stripping the second engine so I can paint it and get it sold...also ordered a water pump and bolts for the engine that will be going in. Other than that I've been bust with parts and appts which is a good/bad proposition ;)

Got the swp in I ordered off ebay...it was a chrome blem so it didn't look that great....but I always planned to paint it and being chromed it was mostly smooth (why I bought it)...got it scuffed up, wiped down, primered (engine primer), three coats chevy orange and three high temp clear.

Still working on stripping the engine to paint and sell....what a pain....hope I see more cash for this when I sell it because of this....again...hours of wasted time if not...but it would have looked bad and come right off if I painted over the po's poor paint job...

Also got in a complete bolt kit for the engine from summit. I could have pieced together a kit a little cheaper possibly but this was cheap enough to make it worth the time savings I will see.

Got the rear out of the lwb frame.....FINALLY! Too much work and wasted time with hand tools....hope to look at a big shop compressor this week...but will need 220 run to the garage...

Got the parts on the shop truck sprayed with pb blaster so they can soak for a bit. Probably will spray one more time before attacking it...waiting on the u-bolt nuts to loosen up a bit on the old rear so I can get those out. Then will clean up and paint that rear so it is ready to install....will put the lowering blocks and longer u-bolts on to I can slide the rear in place and bolt the bags in....will take the bed off to make it a lot easier (bed is loose anyways).

And I will paint the rear frame while I'm at it...


Also cleaned up the glovebox door a bit... it was dirty as well as a little too rusty. Soaked it in lime away and then rinsed it off....after drying it off I sprayed it with wd40 to hopefully keep any more rust at bay....wiped it off the textured face and I'm very happy with the end result....just enough patina :)

See above ;) working on prepping the engines...one to sell to pay for parts....the other to put in the truck....about to wheel one engine out and also take the tranny out and degrease with oven cleaner...

Still scraping paint off the one to sell....

Got the engine going in the truck de-greased, pressure washed, and wiped down....one more prepall wipe and it'll be ready for primer and paint. First things first...got the felpro oil pan gasket installed....cork gasket had a tear in it and was leaking with the engine turned upside down so I'm sure it was really losing oil while driving.....explains how oily my trans was ;)

With the new oil pan seal installed I flipped it back over and started the intake install...had it loosely bolted and realized I had no swivel to get the center bolts torqued down....going to hf to get some other stuff (cheap gloves, etc) so I will look at a 1/2" swivel as well as 3/8" torque wrench...

Transmission is rid of its' oily mess and ready for paint....could have painted tonight but temps were marginal and why not paint it all together as I wait between coats for one item to the next...

Used my dirty, greasy, oily rag to wipe down my too shiny white back bumper :lol: then wiped it off and it looks like the bumper was painted years ago ;)

One issue I'm having...the engine had a chrome thermostat housing I want to replace with factory stlye....
:but:
The housing hits the temp sender....I know it can also go in the heads but the plug has a hex head on the driver's side and the passenger one wouldn't budge....

Also pictured is the oil pan gasket...made for either side dipstick pans like this one....not pictured is how there was a small almost "freeze plug" in the dipstick tube in the block....po didn't want oil coming out of the tube but was ok with the cork gasket in the oil pan leaking like a sieve ;) got the plug out and dipstick test fit fine.
