Thanks guys, well i got the interior pretty much gutted this week....found a little rust , couple small parts right at the very back of the tub by the gate then on each side of the riser where the floor steps up behind the front seats and then when i pulled the rubber off from around the drivers rocker a couple spots of that lip are gone so i guess i will replace the drivers rocker panel and seeing that there is no seams i am going have to look and see what you guys have found is the best way to replace these ! I also cleaned up the transmission and transfer case to put it on Craigslist

I tuned in REAL late on Cloud9. It has only be 3 days since you started this and it is already 5 pages and 109 posts.
Looking forward to this one. I have always liked the Blazers. I got a picture of a blazer interior that was laid out that reminded me of the interior in Cloud9 just a different color. When I can get it downloaded I will post it up.... |

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
It's blocked up (see pic) and moved forward for sure. I wonder how small of a notch you can get away with?
Remember the rear-facing station wagon seats?...that would be cool! |

Re: Slosh Tubz new company project "Square Peg" frame laying 1987 GMC Jimmy
Nice score and sweet project Mike. I have a couple of ideas for you since I see you're going the different and modified look here. On the hood, the 73-80 has a more square body line in the center of it where as the 81-87 comes up to a point. You were saying you wanted to retain the cowl panel seperate from the hood. Now, when you cut the 2 hoods to do this the sheet metal won't want to line up. But, I think you could weld the 2 hoods together and get a steel cowl scoop and then use it as a seam blocker and add looks.
On the rear seat: Place the lower cusion smack on the floor even with your new floor hump. Use the top of the floor hump as half of the lower portion of the seat frame and then add a back to it. This way you might try to still keep it as low as you can without kiddos wacking their heads as much. |
