Scooter,

Take a look at this link. Granted your axle is so much bigger but maybe the same principles will apply.

Here is half of the coupling device that will connect the engines together.

The part that is in the chuck was a balancer from a small block Chevy, fellow truck builder Tim Smith came up with all this. This will bolt to another sbc balancer that has been modified to fit the LS engine. Then we have a chain coupler from a machine supply, it has been turned down and opened up to attach to the balancer on one end and a input shaft on the other. The splined shaft will be stuck in a bearing in the rear of the crank of the second engine. There will be an apparatus on the splines that will allow us to connect and disconnect the 2 engines so we can shut the front engine down running down the highway.

Same basic set up that the Freight Train and other dual engine dragsters in top gas back in the 60s used.Yep it will hold no sweat. Cool very Cool.

I know this is a little early, but everyone give me some ideas on paint. We are going for a look that just says F U from across the parking lot.

I would go with the just out of the barn look. Pick some stock colors and do some patina.

Re: 1966 Snub-nose C60 project

We are kicking around the idea of sanding all the paint off of it except the top of the cab and leave it a raw metal.

Well today we cut the frame again to lower the rear section another 3 1/2". I think it looks a lot better. The intake on the front engine I built for another project, sat it on there to see what it would look like. With twin turbos on each engine we decided the intakes need to be much larger!!

We have made a little progress this week in between paying jobs lol. We have the cross members/engine mounts designed and cut. I will add some pics in the next few days once they are mocked up and in place. They turned out pretty cool in my humble opinion.

Weld up a cage around the corners (a-la brush guard meets Mad Max) of 1" rebar and leave raw.

Dave.
