Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

Great news!

Got the engine and transmission married up, which psychologically is a great step, as well as seeing them in place!

Took measurements of the engine mounted to the transmission, and from there to the center of the shifter, and that relation to the cab - we have a perfect fit. The shifter will be right where I need it in the cab. We will have to create something smooth to use as a shifter, but otherwise, it is coming along nicely.

Hey Leon where abouts does the shifter end up? Looks so long

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

Next steps: remove the cab, mount the transmission and engine in place. Frame is already clean, so this will be fun.

Shawn, I have buckets. The shifter will end up right in the middle of the hump where the high hump sits. It is a beautiful thing. It looks long, but it will be perfect. No mods needed to the tranny.

Gonna repaint/clean-up engine/trans, frame, cab, front clip, and bed while your at it? Might as well do at least the frame/suspension, and engine/trans while you got it apart :)

I must agree with Eric I hate not having done my frame while it was semi apart kills me to see dirt and rust

Everything is coming along nicely! I am going to set my cab on for a little test fitting this weekend. Hopefully it will work as well as you have described in the earlier post. Ive got a hurst shifter for mine that I would like to use.

Re: Dirty Dianah (No)... Bagged 72 Stepside/LSx/T56

Yes. The frame is already clean (read page 4/see pics with my hand on crossmember). There is no grease!! Just waiting for test fit. Once that is all done, will paint frame and motor/trans.

Oh. My. Lawd...

Are you in KY or GA?

You're truck is absolutely amazing. It is a STRIKING resemblance to my heart and soul, Nasty.

What did you end up doing with your old bed? More info on the front frame deal? Air bag setup?

Sorry i have so many questions... Seeing this truck gets me all gitty.

BTW...

Hey buddy! I live in Atlanta, but once it's all done, I will drive everywhere LOL.

Old bed was sold within couple of days of removal. The front Z allows me to lay flat. Love it. I have 2600 bags from firestone, custom 4-link, and 3/8 lines with a 5 gallon tank. I have FBSS. Lays frame and can drive about .5" off the ground.

Thanks for sharing! Hope we can link up when it's running. Check my pics on pages 2-4. Great stuff IMO :metal:
