Yup sand, sand then sweep, prime and repeat. Actually the second picture is the final procedure...

Troy, if I recall, UPS does deliver to your house, right? If so, PM me your address and I'll send the missing dash parts by UPS. Can' be much for such small items and it'll be 2 weeks before I'm that way

Dave.

Yes they do. Check your pm's for my addy.

I guess that explains the white over white on the cab top.

Yea thinking about peeling it all off... Grinding is gonna suck but better than rust repair.

Re: Big Red Dog

Inside rear window sill-headliner? Seam separation? Or maybe rust and that is a fab'ed patch that's already in and being welded?

Let's see what Troy says.

Dave.

Re: Big Red Dog

I was reading the literature today (67-72chevytrucks.com) and stumbled on this post. Honest Troy, this is the first I'd time I've seen it. And of course, I don't know how to quote between threads:

Quote:

Man I wish there was a truck guy close to me that wanted help so I could work on another truck... Nice work guys..
Careful what you wish for.

When I bought the truck, the po had one running light at his home and the truck at his shop with the other 4 mounted. I didn't think anything about it, but if the roof damage is in the area of one of the running light mounting holes that might explain a damaged running light. And if that was the case, might explain a water leak and rust. Does any of that pan out, Troy?

Dave.

Re: Big Red Dog

Makes perfect sense... Wish I would have fixed that part first.. It's a pretty tough area... I will get it fixed in the kinda guy that likes to be the only one with my hands on something so when I put the final coat on its right and no surprises..

This is right under the clearance marker lights in the front. Compound curve.

Re: Big Red Dog

OK, #112 shows the rusted roof inside real well.

Somewhere there is a lonely, depressed, cold and homeless murine family.

Ordering parts. Fun stuff. Ordered parts delivered, more fun stuff.

Cab is looking good. Somehow, getting all one (or almost) color on starts bringing a project home.

I haven't just been sitting around watching soaps, you know. Ordered rear bushings, dismantled the front end and delivered to the sand blaster, brought home a big bag of Kansas mushrooms. But I am going to start a new thread on the rest of the build.

Dave.

Re: Big Red Dog

Good fit. I like that.

I will be around on next Thursday after (your) work. I'll pick up some of the unneeded junk laying around. I should of done that when I got the back glass.

Old trucks in KS. This is the center of old coot farm country. Used trucks are "rode hard and put up wet." Expect untold miles on the engine, lots of rust and bailing wire. Right now 4BT and 6BT manual engines are at a premium and a lot of guys buy them for the motor alone. Lots of swaps of Cummins into about everything you can imagine. If you intend a swap, don't discount a stand alone engine or piecing one together. But, it would be another project.

I originally intended to put the '02 Cummins in the '66 but then the LS would have no home. It would also take a huge amount of fabrication and I chickened out.

I am still looking out for something and will let you know if I find something.

Dave.

Re: Big Red Dog

This truck I'm looking at is a 98 shortbed, ext cab, 2wd 5 speed cummins with 270k. Gonna try to get it for around 2500 but he said he would take 3k. Guess we will see...
