Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4
Trucks coming along.. Sorry for the delay but here is the photo of that bumper. If you want it, it's yours.

I opened some truck parts on Christmas day. All of my emergency brake cables are gone so this is the start to rebuilding the system. The power steering input shaft seal leaks so hopefully this kit will fix that. My dome light lens has always been missing so it's nice to have a replacement but the NAPA lens doesn't seem to be very good quality. It works though. I think I'm going to wait on installing the door strikers until I rebuild the hinges. The locking gas caps are just a little extra security for when I have to leave the truck unattended at the river.

I got the hubs and new discs put together and new bearings/seals installed. They look pretty good on the truck. I haven't driven it yet because I bought new brake hoses as you guys suggested. Getting the old ones off has not been fun but It's getting there.

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4
This video is from the first day that I bought the truck. It's kind of fun to watch the progress since this day.

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4
Those brake lines are a pain...hubs look good!

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4
Thanks guys! The brake hoses have been a pain but I got them off finally. I cut the brake hose in sections to see if it was collapsed internally. It looked like it was probably functioning fine but the middle section looked like it may have been starting to collapse. The core of the hose was sort of triangular shaped. I cut the hoses off the truck and they cut really easily. It feels good to be replacing them. My theory is that whatever caused the uneven brake disc wear, happened a while ago and was corrected by a previous owner. They just took a shortcut and didn't replace the discs.

Here are some pictures that I should have posted a couple weeks ago. I got everything back together with the new Offroad Design extended/braided brake lines. They will allow for up to a 6" lift if I decide to lift it in the future.

And....here's a video of the brake line removal.

Sorry for the lack of updates. It's mostly just because I've been busy.
I bought the molded Husky Liner floor mats. I'm going to be replacing the carpet in my truck some time soon and I wanted something to protect it. I'm sure people will be getting in and out of the truck with dirty shoes so I wanted some mats that could hold the dirt. I'm fairly satisfied with these Husky Liners. They aren't perfect but I'd give them a "B". There's some loose material on the sides of the trans hump and I might have to cut some material out from under the gas pedal and around the floor headlight dimming switch. I'm not sure on those two things yet. I would buy them again though. Husky lists them as fitting 1980-1987(91) trucks. I'm not sure why they don't include the older trucks. I believe that they only make these in black. I would have like to get a set in tan but oh well... Here are some pictures since I couldn't find any on the web: |

Here's a video review of the mats if you want to get another look at them:

And... Here's a video unrelated to my truck but the last half of it shows my brothers 1985 GMC 2 ton doing it's thing:

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4
Thanks for the review and pics of the Husky mats. Weather Tech doesn't make anything for a square and I'd wondered how well the Husky mats fit.

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4
No problem John. I've been wondering the same thing for a while so I finally just bought some!

Re: Project "River Truck" - CCLB 4x4
Nice, but I'd trip on the lip on the door side and bust my a$$! I like 'em, though!
