Update: Been cleaning on front suspension. Chipping away at 50+ years of dirt, grease, and road tar. So far have 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket filled up. Front drums still have the rivets, never been off of the truck. Once clean going to undercoat and paint, brake job, brake lines , and shocks. Oh, and also have sourced a sway bar for the front end. Work continues.......

Hey Tom. I should be back around Monday if you want to swing by and get the sway bar. If you need it before then, go on out and get it. It is in the bed of the blue 69 GMC. Thanks, Fred.

Been awhile since I updated: seems like all I do is mow grass every other day, we get 2-4 inches of rain a week here lately. Anyhow, I managed to finally make some noticeable progress, got the engine bay and front suspension all cleaned up and painted, also got the sway bar I picked up ready to bolt up. Pics -

First I want to say that I know this is not a real exciting thread to watch. I am not a "blow apart, slam, how much money can I spend on bling" kind of guy. I am refurbishing a "truck", not a race truck or show truck, but a real truck. My goal is to make it a comfortable, safe everyday type driver. Off my soap box. :waah:
No pics, but I have rebuilt my tail lights and back-up lights. Took everything apart, cleaned and reassembled. Installed new bezels on the tail lights, worked a dent out where the left back-up light was. I am starting on the door seals next, going with original type glue on seals, my truck does not say "Honda" on it anywhere, LoL. :chevy:

Perfect. I am not into a lot of bling either and it is nice to see it being preserved.

The condition of your truck reminds me of my 64 Chevelle 4dr. Just a very clean well preserved vehicle. If it was mine I would try to keep it as original as possible.

Switched gears, working on the engine. Power washed and stripped, still cleaning nooks and crannys. Going to install all new gaskets, oil pump, fuel pump, waterpump, etc.... It was interesting, when I pulled the oil pan, no gasket, but probably a whole tube a silicone. Inside of motor looked good, not much crud and cylinder walls looked good to. Some oil running down the valves but I can live with that for now :chevy:

Nice work! Engine does look good from my point of view. New gaskets and some paint with a turbo and you'll be all set. ;)

More progress on engine..... oil pressure sender modified to run both warning light and gauge, drilled and tapped crank snout and modified H.M. bolt from chevy V-8 to fit. Not much but getting stuff done.
