All of the parts stores are the same it doesn't matter if it is O'Reilly's, Auto Zone, NAPA or whoever... For me O'Reilly's is my favorite... this is what you get when you hire people without any or limited knowledge of cars and then pay them minimum wage... I know everything is equal... Higher wages = higher cost for parts... but man it would be nice to have some knowledge behind the counter... My Son is a O'Reilly Manager and he at least has some good car knowledge growing up around them and being a enthusiast himself...

I need to find some of Mikes motivation... Hurry up Mike and get this awesome truck done then come on down and help me out... LOL...

Let's not beat up Orileys! They try and one day those guys will be knowledgable... It's just gonna be at our/my expense. I have an account there and I teach as much as I get help. Lol
Anyway, I finished the rear brakes before church and a friend of mine Brian bled the wheel cylinders and rear lines for me after I left.
Tomorrow the 72 front end rebuild parts will be here and it's disc brake time for the old girl.
I should be looking good at the end of the week.

Mike,
finally surfed in on your build page! Great progress! That paint was in great shape, who would have thought it would clean up that nice! Wow!
Have a good one!

Tore the front end down yesterday on my doner disc brake frontend, not a good find.
This is the worst set of control arm caps Ive ever seen in use.
The lower control arms were worn through the caps and bushings and split the steel control arm. Lucky for me, I have another truck I was taking to scrap this weekend.

DANG!!!!... good thing you didn't drive this thing very far... That whole front end was about to leave you upside down in a ditch...

Morning Dan, this wasn't on the truck. It was a different front end I took off another truck to have for a swap like this. The frame was from a farm work truck I scraped. I'll get it blasted and back together. I'm dropping it off at the blaster today if all goes well.
If you still have your caps after the swap meet Feb 5-6-7 I'll buy them.

Well, how about some "truck porn" that's what I call sand blasted parts! Lol
I got everything back from the blaster... 8 days late but for the price I pay, it's a small inconvience.
I have them metal etch primed and painted as of last night so I'll get the rest of the suspension, the 3 sets of rims and front end components, painted and primed this week. Today I'm building cabinets for each side of the fireplace for my wife so nothing will happen on trucks today.
Next week she's in Colorado for work so I'll be in the garage a lot next week while I'm single! Lol
Enjoy the pics!

Here are the wheels. I'll be selling these at a swap meet in 2 weeks. The cost of blasting isn't bad so I'll help someone's project along and get some project cash at the same time!

My mistake on the dates... 6 and 7 Feb. I can load the parts tables on the 5th. Hope I didn't mess up your plans.

Lookin good! I can't believe how well that paint cleaned up.

Looks like I might have to get the buffer out and see if mine will clean up.

Well here's an update on the 70...
I painted the rest of the front components, only to find out I have misplaced a lower control arm!
I'll have to locate it tomorrow or I'll need to find another. I'm starting to think it's at the blaster:(. I'll check tomorrow.
Anyway, progress none the less so I'll try to have pictures every night the rest of the week.

I figured it out last night. It was ruined when removed and I didn't grab it from the the truck I scraped a few weeks ago. Gonna have to take it off the truck when I swap the front ends. Or grab another truck to part this week. Lol

Great looking build.

Re: Project... Tired of not having a daily driver!

For those of you following along...
Springs were nowhere to be found so what do you do...
clean the old ones and throw em in!
Front end is rebuilt and the truck is on the ground!
Wiring is cleaned up and I'm ready for the shocks and calipers. They needed another coat of paint and I didn't have the shocks for the truck yet.
All I can say is, I shouldn't have started this mini build in the middle of the others. Oh well, its started and almost over.
BTW, learned something about the 3/4 ton trucks yesterday. They changed the wheel stud size in 69 or 70 to the larger 9/16th studs. Ask me how I know! LOL More pics tomorrow!
