Re: 5.3 swap build so far

that looks pretty good actually...u said u used one of the cai airbox plates to mount the pcm...how did u get the pcm to stay on there? I don't see anything holding it onto the plate.

dman1982 05-05-2014 11:46 PM

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

I got a big zip tie holding it down...not sure if it's in that pic or not, but it's hard to see either way, and it's good and tight in there...and it's part of the cai box

ivorton74 05-06-2014 12:00 AM

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

oh yeah I think I see a white zip tie...kool man...btw any luck with the driveshaft yet?

dman1982 05-06-2014 12:03 AM

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

Oh ya works good...going to change the rear ujoint tomorrow the original one is pretty tight, but it is a noticeable difference, wish I'd of done it years ago

dman1982 05-06-2014 12:07 AM

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

It's a few lbs lighter...I wish I'd of weighed them I think I would guess about five lbs or so

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

ivorton74 05-06-2014 12:21 AM

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

Ouch...I wouldn't pay that much...that's crazy!!!!

ivorton74 05-06-2014 12:28 AM

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

im just kinda worried about that jus cuz I don't want to pay all that cash n then the driveshaft ends up being too long or short...i'll be super pissed...I really gotta make sure and make the correct measurements.

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

ya man very true...doesnt yours have a slip yoke? if so you'd have a little wiggle room id think....luckly mine was close within a quarter inch

dman1982 05-06-2014 12:40 AM

Re: 5.3 swap build so far

Ya it is but similar to a car...the slip yoke is small...is what I would do to try and save cash is find a car or truck with the same driveshaft length
