Hey, that looks great! More info on the polishing please? Are you using a bench grinder type polisher or pneumatic type? Anything special about the removal of the trim to keep from damaging? or is it better to just cut the old gasket out of the window?

I may have some questions for you on the install too when I get to that point.thanks

Hey Mike , yes I'm using a bench grinder style buffer . It's an 8 in that I bought at Northern Tools. Eastwood also has them. Also, I personally prefer to cut the old gasket to remove the glass . Then the trim can be safely removed without fear of damaging it .

Once you have everything u need , get an old piece to practice on. U can put some dings or creases in it and then work it to get them out. You'll be more than comfortable when u start working with your good trim .

Just ask away if you need any more specifics , I'll be glad to help !

Re: Bowtie468's Extreme '68 BuildPage

I have been lucky enough to be a Beta tester for Carter Hickman's newest software for House of Kolor's Digital Paint Booth. This new version is lightyears ahead of the older 2 versions that I have played with. This version is actually a 3D rendering program where you can change wheels, vehicle height, turn trim and emblems on and off, as well as simply change the color (as long as it is a HOK color ;) ). The coolest thing about the software is that when you change backgrounds, all of the reflections change too. If you spin the truck or raise or lower your veiwing angle you can watch all of the reflections move around on the truck. You really have to see the software in person to truly appreciate all of Carter's hard work that is involved in this. My hat is off to Carter for providing us with some super software for our hobby! This software should be available to everyone very soon, and it is worth every penny!!

I figured that I would help Chris out with a few renderings while I could. For a while there he was unsure about painting the grill white while leaving the rest of the truck black. As you can see, his truck is going to look Killer! Chris, I also made a few animated .gif's of the truck in each background for you. I hope you like them Chris!

I was able to shorten the punch list a bit these last few days. First off, I got the new steering wheel installed. It's a B.S. Rail and also matches the rolling stock on the truck. Thanks to Boris (way2lo2) at Street Machinery !

Also , got all the windshield trim polished up and installed windshield on truck. All metal work on driver front fender is complete. Thanks to my buds Kevin and Steven for coming over this weekend and getting this done ! :chevy:

Thanks guys for the kind words . It's really starting to come together and I'm getting more anxious to get this project finished with every part I bolt on ! I'm fixing to put a call in to Dakota Digital for a set of VHX gauges, so I'm anxious to get them installed . Last week they informed me of a 2-3 week lead time on that setup .

Wow that looks great. Is that the original windshield trim? If so what windshield gasket did you use.

Keith, yes it is original trim. I used a Precision gasket and everything fit nicely. But i must say that its a major headache getting these in with the trim. Well worth the effort but no easy task .:chevy:

Man, I am new here and ben looking through all the awesome builds to get ideas for my truck when I come across this one. its is just over the top! Everybody has already said it but the attention to detail on this whole truck is top notch, and BLACK TOO! How the hell did you get the paint to look like that, from what I can tell from the pictures the paint looks like glass. I have gotten so many ideas for my truck just from reading this thread! I HAVE to get me one of those seats now!:metal:

Those renderings were done by a friend of mine who is testing the software for Carter Hickman, who thankfully allowed us to post them. This latest version hasn't been released yet.
