Congrats on the seats! Can't wait to see them refinished if you plan to use the original-style material. :metal: |
Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
That is the plan.
Anyone ever tried to swap the front seat bottom with the second row ? Looks to be the same width, but kinda shaped a little different in the rear corner. |
Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
WAIT A MINUTE .... IS SOMETHING REALLY HAPPENING IN THIS OLD THREAD ?!?!?
- - The wife is progressing really well in her job, and we realized it was time to sell the beater Honda, and buy here a new car ... So the Burban had to leave the garage....to park the new car. The plan was to tow it to my shop, that way it can actually get worked on, on my free time () ... The new car thing, just put my butt in gear !!! - - |
Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Thursday afternoon, I finished up the bushings and ball joints.
The control arms were coated, and the spindles blasted and painted. - - http://i46.tinypic.com/juz2pf.jpg - http://i46.tinypic.com/2ciheop.jpg - http://i47.tinypic.com/bhm0dz.jpg - http://i46.tinypic.com/9scwn5.jpg - http://i50.tinypic.com/2nbacus.jpg - My buddy hooked me up with my 6-lug rotors, bearings, seals, nut/washers, and dust caps. Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Yesterday, I spent the morning (in-between arguements with the sis-n-law) moving stuff, cleaning, and assembling the front end to make it a roller ...

The only thing, is these rotors use a 14x1.5 MM stud. So this made the the wheel definately lug-centric ... ;)
Snug fit, for sure .... - - http://i47.tinypic.com/f1ir8z.jpg - According to Rich, a caliper will fit in there... - http://i45.tinypic.com/35lgaw6.jpg - http://i46.tinypic.com/dz6zur.jpg - http://i46.tinypic.com/20a3tir.jpg - http://i45.tinypic.com/33nw1fp.jpg - This is what 5" of drop (with no engine/sheetmetal) looks like ... - http://i45.tinypic.com/359h5d5.jpg - |

In the past we bought a 2005 Honda Element EX 5-speed new ... that was a GREAT little car, AWD and did VERY well in the snow. That had to go to buy the house..... Now we are getting back on our feet, the time was right. She wanted the 2-door Scion, the 'PaulWalker/VinDiesel' model, but it just wasn't practical. This one has 4-doors, and a rear hatch....seats fold forward with a push of a button. She's doing PSE for Lowes, so she travels everywhere with product/samples, so this was the better choice .... Glad she loves the manual trannys too, not too many women do .... Anyone wanna talk about my new F#rd tow rig ?? |

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Had a chance to clean out and shelf all the parts transported in the Burb....and throw the seats in.
I did find out something though (I think there is a thread on this somewhere) These seats are out of a 66 Chevy Burban... The second and third rows DO NOT directly bolt in. Without relocated floor anchors, The middle seat will require two holes drilled in the tubing of the seat frame (no biggie) The rear seat however ... will require some fab work ... or in my case just swap the cushions onto my existing rear seat frame. (PICS SOON) I am not sure if this is a GMC thing, or if its a 60-62 vs 63-66, or a combo of both ?? Hmmmm....;) |

However, I decided to attack my DOOM buggy project as it is the closest to being completed. I figured finish that first, and get one project done at a time, instead of attempting to complete all at once .... never happen with my work load. VW chassis almost ready to go to powder (so nice to have a HookUp on powder coating...right next door to my shop) Look for updates soon..... Posted via my nice GS4 Mobile Device |
