Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Joining your build late....very nice work so far. Like how you've stuck with your concepts and made them work out well!!!! Going to be an awesome streetrod when complete. Any more work on those inners???
|
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thanks y'all,I appreciate the encouraging words.
I haven't done anymore w/ the inners, still plannin the same idea.Im still waiting on the bed to get back from the body shop so I can get all the sheetmetal lined up and then start wiring everything. I know it's boring to read a bunch of text about what Im planning to do next but that's all I got. Maybe I will post some pics, tomorrow,of the truck on the floor. It looks so good, even in it's half finished state. Thanks for your interest. |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build

Re: my 98' Streetrod build

http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum014.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum015.jpg The front crossmember lays flat,then theres a slight positive rake.Thats how I like it. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum025.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum022.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum021.jpg The drivers side collector is a 1/4" from contacting the ground when aired out.After I ground 1/4" off the flange. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum017.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum018.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum019.jpg Template http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum026.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum027.jpg |

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Looks awesome man. I love that radiator bracket. That is nice and clean.
|
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thanks Fellerz,
I was excited to see the bed getting some attention. Its been getting pushed aside for a while. I used some super dense studio monitor foam under the rad. The radiator is pressed down into it tight and the top bracket holds it in place. Seems like it'll work well. Im not superstitious so,I will say that Im planning on finishing the truck this year. It doesnt seem like its been 25 months sense I tore into it. Time moves faster as you get older.... |

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
This is my favorite recent pic. I think its a good snapshot of a "garage built Hot Rod/Truck Enthusiast's lifestyle ".
As mentioned,in another thread,,its a sickness,a therapy,an addiction but its also a quality of life thats worth every hour spent. And when your done, you can drive it down the street and blow peoples minds. Yea,,I had a moment of reflection. K,Im done...;) http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...1/forum020.jpg |

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Looking good man. I also dig the quote! That really speaks volumes about the majority of the guys on the boards.

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thanks yall. I was havin a good day and got carried away w/my thoughts.
I didnt make it to the shop today,Im going in the a.m. to see more color samples.I also picked up some aluminum sheet. If I can cut n bend up a few more pieces,,I'll be done w/the interior panels. I'll throw some pics up tomorrow night. |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
I had 7 0r 8 other blue samples sprayed w/o a desirable result. The second from the left is the blue from post #177.Hard to believe,,,it just shows how the light affects the shade. That color had too much purple in it .,I had my painter take that same color, lighten it and increase the metallic properties. I think its the one.(far right w/the silver X on it)
Phone pics, http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../iphone003.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../iphone002.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../iphone054.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../iphone038.jpg |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thats my '68. I got to a 1/2 way completion point w/it and decided to go another direction. It got blown apart and its not quite a roller yet. I will post a pic of it when I bought it,6 yrs ago,but I would like to keep this thread focused on the '98.

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Wish I'd left my '69 alone.
God knows that this '98 is certainly going to be tough to top. What is that sprayed on the firewall? It reminds me of Zolotone but surely you would use something else? Even so, it looks clean. The texture is the right thing to see. Gives the eyes something to do. |

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Nice choice on the color. How does it look with clear on it?

I'll be using a PPG "fixed and flat" clear so it shouldnt change much.It will calm down the metallic a little and give it a smooth, satin glow. Im getting the air tank sprayed to see the final color before any panels are shot. |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Progress? The suspense is killin' me.
|
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Me too.
The wet weather and painters(calling in sick) have been pushing back the progress.I have been staying busy w/other stuff while Im waiting,so nothing to show at this time. I should have some good stuff happening in March. |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Cool. I can't wait to see more pics.
