Nice build. Do you think you'll get to wheel it before the rainy season?

Re: Got a new truck

are you going to gusset or box your truss.. Did you box or reinforce the frame at all?

onlyifihadachevy 11-17-2009 11:15 PM

Re: Got a new truck

We didn't box the frame yet, And we are going to gusset the truss somewhat. I might be able to wheel it, not hard just playing really, but it should have started raining last month so we will see. I really like wheeling in mud it seems funner, so it doesn't really matter.

Re: Got a new truck

Well, we didn't beat the rain it rained today, not really really hard but rained and seemed like a lot came down. I guess the shock i chose are the kind after you order they make. So another weeks 3 at the most. In the mean time we are going to start the motor build, a 383, got most the stuff, just need new bearings and lifters and put it in. Still deciding what its going in this or the black one. I'm pretty sure the black one, unless we get a bbc for it.

Re: Got a new truck

Well, i think I'm changing my mind again about the seats. I think i might get some leather seats out of a town car, might not. And pismo is coming soon, So we have to finish it soon.

I'm thinking of swapping the steering box this weekend, and getting new lines from the pump to box. And going full hydro later. I think we are also going to put the 4in on the front this weekend.

Re: Got a new truck

Worked on the cage a little yesterday just some bracing messed up on one of the braces the angle is different than the othe side. We didn't notice till it was welded in. And did the over head bars.

Re: Got a new truck

Well, we worked on it a little today. We got the drivers seat in. my dad went to get a driveline and 2 harnesses. We are going to put on the power steering box on next weekend. I will post a pic later.

onlyifihadachevy 12-02-2009 11:48 PM

Re: Got a new truck

Well i got sick so i didn't uncover the truck to get a pic with the seat in but I have these.

The blak bars you can tell a little off, and the second isn't great great but is the roof.

are you going to cap the cut on the body?

onlyifihadachevy 12-03-2009 08:15 PM

Re: Got a new truck

The parts we can we are, we will put 2 plates on it around the tube that comes out of it. And we are going to box some of the frame also, hjust got to get some steel.

onlyifihadachevy 12-23-2009 01:10 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Well everything has slowed but should be ready to go be tested in 3 weeks. The shocks should be here next week, if not i will get different ones. Haven't put the power steering pump on but will this weekend for sure. And the passager seat will be in or mocked up. We moved into the garage by welding a bar from the axle to the back half. Ran great and is now out of the rain. So more progress to come.

onlyifihadachevy 12-26-2009 10:11 PM

Re: Got a new truck

Well we piced up a fuel cell that should work will find out tomorrow. We also got a sidewinder winch that needs the line. we will get some winch rope for it but, we should see progress tomorrow.

onlyifihadachevy 12-28-2009 12:02 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Well we welded the fuel cell in, it has a steel metal case around the plastic cell so we tacked the top into where we wanted, and a bar across the bottom to help spread some weight. I will get pics tomorrow.

onlyifihadachevy 12-31-2009 02:12 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Well the fuel cell is in place and the hose is hooked up. We have yet to start it because are plans for today got switched, but we got some tools and a compressor. So it was for the better. We have decided to cut out both the seats and move the drivers in 4in to the center and 2in down, for safety and too make me feel a little safer. We might the center seat for the passenger side or use the other racing seat.

Re: Got a new truck

was wondering what that plate is coming off the side

onlyifihadachevy 01-05-2010 01:19 AM

Re: Got a new truck

i just got some pics of the drivers side of them and the plate I think your speaking of. I think it's for checking the gears and such. From what I know i belive it to be a sm465 with a np205. I didn't really looks on the t-case but i alost sure it is.

the pics sory for the quility.

Re: Got a new truck

the tranny looks like a sm465 but the tcase looks like a Rockwell tcase. t221 is what i think the name is?

Yukon Jack 01-05-2010 12:33 PM

Re: Got a new truck

Yep, that's a T221.

onlyifihadachevy 01-05-2010 07:24 PM

Re: Got a new truck

I didn't really look so if they are they are. And from what i just looked at they have the same low ratio. And now as i look at the pic. It doesn't have the flange behind the front output like the np205 or 203.

Yukon what is the reason for you swapping out the t221? I think i remember seeing it in one of your threads if i remember correctly.

Hopefully today i will have pics with the doors on.

onlyifihadachevy 01-06-2010 12:23 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Well we put the doors on and we are now trying to weld the top back on but it might not work. I will get pics tomorrow.

onlyifihadachevy 01-06-2010 02:08 AM

Re: Got a new truck

I figured I would put the up dates up tonght. My dad got the top tacked on and is pretty close to stock and how it should end up. We have to make seat mounts still. But the pics.

Re: Got a new truck

I screwed up and let my T221 get low on gear oil and took out some bearings - I had a spare NP205 so seemed like a good opportunity to upgrade. T221's are strong but they are harder to get parts for and a bit louder than an NP205.

onlyifihadachevy 01-07-2010 12:48 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Well if it breaks we will swap it for a 205. well we are out of gas for the welder so hopefully tomorrow.

Well today i think we are picking up a surburban.

Re: Got a new truck

Well we got the suburban yesterday and went to work on this today but one of the lights were not working so we went and bought a light for the garage and some wire and switches for the truck. By the time we were done it was dark so we are putting working till tomorrow.

The plans are to put the motor mounts in my black truck and welding in a rough crossmember so we can go wheeling sunday. After we are going to wire the spot light for the back and weld the rest of the cab on.

onlyifihadachevy 01-10-2010 03:33 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Well we finished just now at 11:30 not really that late but seems to be because we were working halfway in the street. We made a crossmember for the black truck and got it on, had to grind a little so we grinded then stopped. We still have to pick up the trailor and weld tomorrow before we head out to go offroading.

Well what really killed us in time was we forgot a extension last week at a friends house. And we went to pick it up today and his sewage drain pipe broke and the city said that he couldn't stay at the house unless he fixed it. they were searching for the pipe and finally found it then my dad fixed it, we got there at 4 and left at 9-9:30. Got home and started working.

Hpefully pics of wheeling tomorrow, not of this truck but the other one, the one which led us too start this one.

Re: Got a new truck

well did really get any pics but went thru the bog 3 times and then bakced halfway into it and it died. Will crank but not spark so the trip was cut short.

Re: Got a new truck

does your truck sit low in the front or is it just the angle?

onlyifihadachevy 01-14-2010 07:30 PM

Re: Got a new truck

Its about an inch higher in the front. And the one of the back tires is on the curb, with the angle of the camera makes it look higher in the back. The angle in this pic makes the front look a lot higher in the front , but its only an inch maybe 2.

is the rear end off center or?

onlyifihadachevy 01-14-2010 09:26 PM

Re: Got a new truck

Yea it is pushed up a little. I dont know why it maybe be the blocks?

onlyifihadachevy 01-14-2010 09:30 PM

Re: Got a new truck

But it looks like most are that way, some more noticable.

Well I thought since I found out when my shocks should come in I would post it. They should come on the 21st. Which If we get everything done we maybe able to wheel it on the 23rd. If not we will take the black truck and then the next weekend will we take it.

Re: Got a new truck

i had the same situation on my jimmy when i put the lift on. one side was to far forward for my liking so i just rotated the spring and it was good to go. seems like they'd rub more when there forward than reversed.

onlyifihadachevy 01-15-2010 01:51 PM

Re: Got a new truck

When they compress the way they are supposed to be the rear end gets pushed back it seems and at droop goes forward when I lifted it on a lift.

onlyifihadachevy 01-18-2010 04:15 PM

Re: Got a new truck

Well we got the steering box off yesterday, and we're going to put the other one today, and should have a seat mounted today.

onlyifihadachevy 01-20-2010 02:38 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Well we got the taillights done, the power steering done, seat mount halfway done, ordered winch line done today. It has been raining this week so the progress is a little slower than should be, but still looks like we are planned to go saturday.

onlyifihadachevy 01-21-2010 03:08 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Well doesn't look like we're taking this this weekend. We are just going to take the black truck; because it has better tires, and its been raining all week; and not supposed to stop till this weekend. Hopefully next weekend.

onlyifihadachevy 01-23-2010 12:02 AM

Re: Got a new truck

Just got this winch line for my othere truck and will have too get some for the winch on this, the hook is heavier than the rope.

Re: Got a new truck

Got my shocks finally they're filled to 300psi, and should get put on today, if the tabs get finshed. Cut them out yesterday but didn't fit right.
