if you look in the corner of the pic there is a 4x4 c/c, I believe this is it, and the same guy is selling this 61 as well, all for high $$$$

looks like another 1/2 ass conversion job to a later 4 x 4 chassis seeing as the wheels don't centre and the box and cab don't line up

Definately like how the 63 and older conversions look, versus the 64 and later.

The pillars/door angles seem to flow better ....

Just saying ..... ;)

He only has the stepside and the stretched burb for sale, but go through Sacramento, CA craigslist ads. They're in there.

w/shields must be a major undertaking for these vehicles as there are quite a few chopprd ones but very little with w/shields in them

yep:lol: I have one of those too, I can either go to billings or portland to get one made which is almost the same distance to trailer at $3+ a gallon, plus the cost of multiple winshields, and the cost of the labor.... quite an expensive undertaking.

There is supposed to be a local guy here that can cut windshields.

I know I'm bringing back a zombie thread, but is anyone selling a quad cab? I am in the market for a 60-66 truck to make a hot rod hauler. I also have a car that i'd be interested in trading for the right one if you'd rather do that .

this is probably the wrong site for it but it's a chopped '49 ford

It was in CO when I bought it. I live in Plainwell, MI. From what I was told it was a Forestry truck in Nevada. It is a 1964 4 door on a LWB frame, 4 speed on floor and originally came with a inline 6 but someone swapped it out for an older SBC. The SBC in it has the canister style oil filter.

64chevycrewcab 09-16-2013 11:06 AM

Re: 60-66 crew cabs or extended cabs

The only thing I have done to it since it arrive to MI was change the fuel filter and take the two piece rims off and replace with them with the ones in the pictures above.

Re: 60-66 crew cabs or extended cabs

thanks for those shots!
those are very helpful in research on these.
judging by the photos I would say that is a crown crew cab conversion, I looked at the 3 vendors in my silver book, and the short rear door is what crown used, stageway was similar, but the rear door was a few inches longer....
if you find a mfg. tag , or an paper info that shows that please post it up.
and along with the photo requests...
how about some pics of the front edge of the rear door (insidr) , and the hinges, and hinge post.
I am also curious? does it look like they modified the front of the inside door panel , or was it a whole new piece that was stamped?
also is that rear headliner metal, or fiberboard?
again, thanks for the great shots so far.

That is very interesting to me also, I knew there were about 3 or so re-manufacturers back then, but I hadnt seen one. Here is my dads crew 64, it is also a 64 but has been placed on a stretched LWB chassis. Did you buy that from RJ?

64ChevyCrewCab, where abouts in Painwell are you at? I'm originally from the Bangor, in Van Buren Co. area. I'm enlisted in the navy right now, but nice to meet a fellow Chevrolet fan on here not far from your stompin grounds.

Does anyone else find it odd that this truck has the windows from a 64-66 on the back doors of a 61. how did they have those windows or is this a conversion that was done at least 3 years after the truck was made.

that is a proctor-keefe body conversion, they did a 3 door, and that looks correct, if you look close, that is just a 61 door window without the vent window.
here is a shot of the right side:
*** I was going to post this green one up saying "here is another p/keefe body", but then I realized that it is the same truck, these pics were from a ca. cl ad from a few years back.
