I'm going to run one of them after I shorten my frame. And I'm selling one to a guy at work. I'm in the market for some 60's style fenders tho. |

I put some new lug nuts on the front, put the driver's side fender back on. Then I went for a joyride with my girlfriend and taught her how to drive three-on-the-tree.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Drove about 100 miles taking the long way and back from a buddy's house. He loaned me a cherry picker and an engine stand. Got lots of looks cruising alone in the 66 with those things out back. :D

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I drove mine over to check out lownslw64's ride (his build thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=367652 ). When my truck grows up it wants to be just like that. His frame and suspension are pretty much done and done nice. You can tell he's not rushing things and doing them right. We talked for awhile and it sounds like we have alot of common goals for our trucks. It's great to see someone making good strides toward his goals, mine are still in dream, or more accurately delusional state. It inspired me though. I hope I can help him out sometime and get more inspired.
Great guy too. Showed me everything on the truck and shared alot of knowledge. I can't believe this is his first build. I'm hoping to run into him at the Goodguy's Get Together in Pleasanton next weekend (Nov 14-15) and by that man a beer. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I've also read that folks are swapping out Holley 500's on these motors- any advice on the matter is appreciated.[/QUOTE] Monolith Here is a web site that may answer your questions about the Hollys.
http://www.6066gmcguy.org/holley.htm Hope that helps.---Vernski:mm: |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Cool thread Sam.
I didn't do much... replaced the heater wheel, OG one was making a racket. Wired in some courtesy lights with door jamb switches. Might have a line on a posi 3.73 rear end... the 3.08 peg-leg and T5 is a bad combo. |

Monolith,
The change is not hard, you already have the rare part - "The Dual Intake", with out that you're dead in the water. You need a holley 500 CFM carb, or another brand of your likin' and adaptor plate and you might need to make a new accelator linkage due to the dog leg you'll need, but other than that you're good to good. See webshots pics below. http://rides.webshots.com/album/560082574YsEssM |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thanks a million for the advice guys! This site is a goldmine of encouragement and knowledge.
I'll be ordering a Holley 500 today after work, went around to my FLAPS's yesterday- no luck finding one in stock, have to order it. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
The Holley 500 is an easy swap. If I can do it anyone can. You will need to get an adapter to bolt it in. I'll try to post some pics a little later.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Pulled the beds off the trailer flipped them over on a pallet and collected the money for one of them. Put them away and sprayed the bolts with rust penetrating stuff so I can pull the planks off later this week.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
rearranged some of the pins on my engine harness and hooked the battery up to see if I could get her to turn. She turns over nicely. I need to get some new head lights and bulbs so I can check to make sure everything works.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Layed upder it for a while. Tried to figure out other ways to shorten the frame. Think I got carried away because the new plans are chopping it off behind the cab and fabbing up a new backhalf with C notches and bags. :metal:

PLEASE send me a PM with how you hooked up the detent kick-down cable!! |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I put a new starter in today. I'm alittle scared though. I might have torqued the bolts just a little too much. So far it's workin great.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Went down to the DMV...and finally registered my truck....
The frickin 'Governator' took $226 of my hard earned money for that thing !! And the tag is only good untill FEB !! Man the lady at the counter real had a hard time...this truck came with the DMV paper all printed up from the guy. However the OG owner donated to charity, then this guy bought it (owns a lot), then I got it. So the pink was signed 3 times, we had 3 transfer forms....it had her going crazy !! Now, I just got it get it running !! So far...that little truck in my avatar has cost me $600 + $226 = $826  http://i38.tinypic.com/jsinv8.jpg |
