Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I used spray cans of it but I wire wheeled it down and then took some sand paper over it... Used soap and water on it and then used alcohol all over it... Its pretty smooth but i really like it....

black -radio-grnd grey - cluster /dash lights can I ask how the radio is wired got pics? |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Hmmm....That makes me wonder about the grey wire since all my cluster and dash lights work....
The radio is powered by a Red fused wire going to the fuse block and smashed in with a fuse, I ran a direct wire from the battery for the memory wire, and its gorunded out to the frame from a wire i ran after finding a crap ground on it. So my assumption is the guy didnt feel like finding out why the ACC fuse wouldnt stop blowing and just wired it in like it is.... I figure there is a power wire grounding out somewhere going into the ACC just have no clue where |

Re: Project 78 High Sierra
I'm actually going Semi Gloss Black...So it will be a bit more shiny then a satin finish but not a much as a gloss

Went to pull a part today and bought a glove box that had a piano hinge riveted it
A gauge Cluster (Worthless) A Couple Extra Gauges A tail light (Wrong side damnit) A side marker light (opps thought i needed it) A pristine dash bezel (Just because) A cut up engine wiring harness plate Then I tested out the gauge bezel and the speedo was shot.... didnt work at all Then I tested the speedo that i got separate...Just put it in with no bezel direct to the cable and wahhhhlaaaa!!! The speedo doesn't float or do anything weird anymore... Realized my gas Gauge is off as it is reading funny and when i put the other gauges in it said it was empty...Added gas and it went up...Guess I really messed up when I removed needles.. Took apart the gauge bezel and painted the inside white Painted the black metal piece white on the back and hit the front with flat black primer Ordered new white faces offline Installed new strikers and Got my Bench Console made by a member on here. |

Got bored and had to work remotely so i painted another Solid Dash Bezel....Not perfect but it didnt turn out bad
Probably will just sell it |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
how much would you be looking for it?
|
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Well its not perfect by any means and normally ive seen people selling good quality (Plastic wise) for about $65....So me being me...I would sell it probably for $50 plus shipping
Yet again i want to say the paint isnt perfect...there are a few dark spots of the black and what not... Its an AC unit with the top AC piece not attached...I might have one though.... and it has no clear coat on it Also the right corner has a small chip in it |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra
Im really close to tearing my dash apart, I was looking at the billet ones but those run around $100, so I might get back to you once I got it apart and am at decision time

A few little things done this A.M. Removed the old rusted out and almost gone batter tray...Hit the support with the wire brush and some left over Rust-Oleum Professional Semi Gloss Enamel, hit the new tray with the enamel and then I hit the brake thing with it too just because...Didnt even wire brush it...Figured why not...Prob will get some flat black for it eventually but since i was there and had some drop still on the truck just hit it...
Also installed my LMC Relay Harness |
Re: Project 78 High Sierra

Well with 99 degree weather and 50% chance of rain I said screw it and went to work today...
I previously had sanded everything down yesterday so I started with cleaning everything off, and masking the door and cab.... Also since that last door I decided it was wise to use my respirator this time lol Hit it all with 3 cans of high build primer and now im letting it dry... 30 mins after finishing it started to sprinkle so luckily the primer drys fast... I also had an extra glove box door and decided that since I have changed from painting the truck the stock color to Blitz black I can now paint the interior... So I bought some Rust-Oleum Sun Rise Red that I thought would match the seat better... |
