Re: The Old Duffer
Hey J. Been so busy with work and kids the Duffer has taken a backseat for a few months but I'm gearing back up. Been waiting on a few parts to arrive so I can fire him him up. Hopefully they show up today as I'm planning to hit the Bowling Green NHRA Hot Rod Reunion this weekend. I picked up a SWB frame & and short bed and am saving my pennys for a complete porter built build. Having the frame done & assembled will save me a bunch of time when I'm ready to pull the trigger.

Re: The Old Duffer
At least when you don't have progress to show you can tease us with future plans! SWB, turbo'ed, Porterbuilt.... I like the sound of that!

Re: The Old Duffer
X2! Look forward to the new build to! :metal: And yes...turbo!!! :chevy:

Well plans have evolved again....I'm flakey I know, but a chance run in with the American Street Car Series at an Autocross event here in Nashville spun my head around. I took some rides around the course with JB Granger from the show "Are You Faster Than A Redneck" and decided I needed to adjust my build. Here's where we currently sit. My SWB roller was blown apart & a Ridetech level 2 coil over suspension was procured. waiting on a Porterbuilt frame stiffener. Here's how she sits right now.

Re: The Old Duffer
I'm in the process of ordering the same kit for my 65, how do you like the kit? Have any more pics with wheels installed to show ride height? Thanks and love the build plan!

I was just thinking of pestering you again the other day to see what was going on. I like the new plan! That Ridetech setup looks great, and nothing like a real world test drive to help you see its capabilities.

Still pretty terrible at photoshop but here's a little preview of the end product. It won't set this low till I get shockwaves but It'll be pretty close

My Boyds welding tank came in today. What a beautiful piece! Kind of a shame to hide it under the bed.

Been trying out some ideas in photoshop. We're painting the truck one way the other so I thought I'd try a few ideas. It's a pro-touring build hence the splitter & air damn. What do y'all think?

I decided to stick with a very similar color scheme. It will be a matte pearl white with same blue stripe. All trim & chrome will be powder coated the same color as the Forgeline RB3c wheels. I did a rendering of the final product in photoshop.

Re: The Old Duffer
The old Duffer is taking a new Transformation, Lookin Good... Great job on the bed shortening..

Re: The Old Duffer
Great work, keep the pics coming.

Re: The Old Duffer
The work that you are doing is top-notch!
Everything is looking awesome! I think that the pearl white/blue color-combo will look great. I originally was gonna do pearl white & red! The only thing is, I don't think that your truck will go as low as your renderings show, with only having only a c-notch in the rear....Just sayin. What size are the Forgeline wheels that you are going to run? |
Re: The Old Duffer
Modges, your right on ride height, It's slightly exaggerated in the rendering but the Forgelines are only 18's & we may move to shockwaves before its all said & done.
|
Re: The Old Duffer
How come you didn't use the other short bed you picked up?
|
Re: The Old Duffer
Looks great, as always! Wish I had some bed shortening skills. I just ran across a 66 longbed that I would love to do this to.

Re: The Old Duffer
Cool I also shortened a long bed for my build however the way yours was done is probably a better way to do. Making cuts close to the edge is a smart way to day it as it will be easier to bodywork

Got the new 9" Ford underneath it last night. Going with a Detroit locker and 3:89 gears. 335/35/18's in the rear & 295/35/18's up front. Thanks to Brian Finch for getting these axles ordered & adapting these Camaro Brembo binders. This things gonna stop on a dime.

Getting the dash mocked up. I think I will end up taking the engine turn panels out and go with a brushed aluminum finish. all the outside trim will have a brushed aluminum look to tie in the brushed aluminum hoops of the Forgeline RB3C's. Going with the Alpine Double din apple car play head unit in the center.

Re: The Old Duffer
Looking very nice! Great work. Hey how has the 250 been running? Did the fuel injection work well?
