Looking real good.
Nice wheel. Kim |
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Thanks for the comments. That's the matching steering wheel that goes with my wheels from race line. I like the way it looks as well.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Hey murd969, did you go with the Ididit TF Retro Fit column or their Universal? Mind sharing P/N's of column and drop? Thanks, Jim
|
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
I believe it's the universal column. I will post the info with part numbers tonight for you.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Coming along nicely!!

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
I used all Ididit parts. The column is 33" long. The column is chrome and everything else is polished aluminum.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Good looking truck. Do you have pictures of the front Shockwave mounting brackets. I'm trying to design some for my suburban and I'm looking for ideas. Thanks

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
I will see if I have some pics if not I can get some this coming week.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Ride tech makes a bottom bracket that's specific for the C4 suspension. That's what in using for my lower brackets. There's two holes that are already in the lower control arm. That's where these bolt in. All you need to do is make custom top mounts for the bag and you're good to go. That's what I did. If you need the part number for the bottom brackets let me know.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Thanks murd969. I'll look up the brackets.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
The Ride Tech P/N 90000287 I have them for my build. I haven't broken down the transverse spring, getting the spring out of the way to see how they attach. My first view has me questioning whether they are needed or need to be modified. I talked to Josh at Ride Tech, asking for a photo or something that clearly showed how to attach these brackets on the C-4 LCA, no response yet. That was three days ago. FYI My project is a 57 GMC with a 1996 C-4 both front and rear. I'm still in the planning stages, trying to make good decisions prior to the start. to avoid do overs as much as is possible.

It's been a while since I've posted anything but we've been busy. It took us a little bit of time to get the design down for the bed floor and the hinge setup. Finally we reached a design that everyone was happy with. We had to do a lot of custom fab work on this and it's starting to take shape.

Here's another view of the framing that we did.

We're also changing up the bed sides so instead of using the angle bed strips we welded in some trim pieces that will be smoothed in. Once they're done it should look pretty nice.

We finally have a functioning raised bed floor. We got the hinge setup in place the the bed floor can raise almost 90 degrees without hitting anything. We still need to add the latch and the gas struts.

My garage looks like a parts store now. If anyone knows any good shops in the Tampa area or somewhere in Florida please let me know. I should be getting the air ride on in the next week or two but everything else is a big question mark at this point.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Truck looks good.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Thanks Kim. It would be even better if I could drive it.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
That's a pile of parts! Looking good!!
|
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
The height that it's sitting at right now is the highest ride height that it would be with the air bags. It should tuck the rear wheels really nice with it dropped down.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
At this point I'm not sure when anything will be getting done. Hopefully some
Things will start to fall in place. |

Well I decided to drop my truck off at Godspeedrides in Sarasota. I'm hoping to get the work going and to get the truck finished.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Looks like a decent place to do your work. Are you having them do a turn key vehicle for you? It would be nice to see what the costs of it come out to be with all the labor and stuff....
My original budget came out to about $46K just for materials!!! I'd hate to even think about what my labor could be! - lol (in the end it is $0) |
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
I have a lot in parts as well but I also have already spent a lot on labor. The only original parts on my truck are the can and all 4 fenders. It definitely adds up quick.

Some progress has been made on the truck. All of the welds have been cleaned up. Also the air bags have been mounted in place. Here's some pics of the progress. These pics are of the truck completely aired out.

We tested the air ride with some temporary lines hooked up. I'm working to get some videos uploaded to show it.
