But someone was asking me the otherday what i run so I thought i would show some of that ....and I put the gas tank in for the 52nd time and I hope it's the last time....finished up some parts.....

So I have had the pieces cut for my sub box for awhile....infact I cut enough to make 3 sub boxes cause apparently I have a few more projects in the wings waiting for their turn. Anyhow I wasn't doing anything between 5 pm and about 1 am so I finished cutting the rest and put it together . Then because of the shape of the box I fiberglassed the crap out of the inside to ensure it will take a beating....From the end it looks like a triangle but at the back bottom corner there is a wedge removed so that it clears the gas tank bases against the cab .The front piece is cut over sized a bit to make it look cleaner and then i rounded off the top corners. For good measure I ran the router all the way around the face because I am funny like that ...lol

It fits down over the gas filler tube and presses up to the bottom of the bed...it turned out to be more work then i thought because.....1st we sunk the fuel door down flush and i didn't like the way it fit for mounting so ...2nd we C&C'd a bottom plate for a better finsh and make it stronger. 3rd I used a urethane stain in the bowl and we cleared the crap out the bowl ( must be 15 coats )and we had to wet sand it and polish it.

Read, got caught up. Sitting here trying to think of something clever.
No words come to mind that can express the awesomeness of your build.
I didn't make it to the Portland Swap Meet this year either.

Next Year!

All my rides get names it's just something I have always done. I have been calling this one the " Street HULK " since I started building it so it's one of the reasons for all the green everywhere. I am trying to get this finished for a car show thats in less then 2 weeks. But I have already realized that it's not going to be done .......it's still going to go but as a project truck......

You're not kiddin' when you said that you had a "different idea" for the fuel filler. That is really cool! The LED backlight is a great touch.

What are your thoughts on the Hagan push-thru caps? I'm considering using those for my tanks and I don't know anybody who has used one. Until now. I like the idea.

Well my thoughts are.....I wanted a flap style filler because that billeted door is actually kinda small (but I can reach in and unscrew it if required. ) I have had bad luck with fillers in the rainforest I live in with not opening and letting water in . So This style of cap has a thick rubber ring that seals tight into the collar. I also made the bowl hole large enogh that it should pass any water that gets into the bowl. The push button style of cap where you press it down and spin it works until water gets into in and when you push it down the suction wont release it. So I really wanted to try this style of cap because all of the hassels I have had with other types of caps. I am in the process of using one of these fillers in the rear fender of a friends build and liked the design so much.....I had to

I didn't make these stands I just did the finish on them years ago. I have 4 of them that I used to use for shows when I did that kinda thing. It's a flashback to pull them out of the dust and clean them up. The guy who carved them cut the base of a 15' wide cedar log then cut that into 4 pieces....then recarved each one of those into logs with the faces in them....They have to weigh like 80 lbs a piece and they are brutal to move around but they sure are differnt and I like differnt lol.

I forgot to mention I got the rear glass in ....It's a dark green tint and I think it looks evil with that sinister green I have going on. I was never a fan of green but it sure has growen on me since I started this build.....Today is the 12th.....and I have to have this thing in my booth for the 17th before 5pm. I sure wish I had another week.....lol

So it's been a crazy couple of weeks with parts and work ....oh and expensive....lets not forget that. Now I like doing my own gig and I learn so much from everyone of these forums and thats a fact. That once in awhile you see something you like so much ya can't help but go " Oh man I wanna do that " So I broke down and bought some exhaust manifolds that I saw on Dino's builds....I fricken dig them..lol....So full disclosure to Dino..lol

Well it started out small but it's in the throws of being bigger....When complete the table should be 3' x 5' . Yea I am going to attack the CnC parts thing and make stuff for these trucks that I always wanted but could never find. I have a few more pieces ready now that I am waiting to install before the show so I can take some pictures. So short version give me some time and we should be all over it....lol
